What is it?
Google Maps is a powerul, user-riendly mapping toolavailable on the internet and viewed in yourweb browser. In addition to driving directionsand local business inormation, Google Mapsalso provides terrain maps, satellite imagery,and (in places) a 360 degree photographic“street view” o the real world. Using the “MyMaps” eature students and teachers can alsocollaborate to create their own custom mapsby adding new placemarkers that include text,images, and video. Custom Google Maps can beshared by copying a simple web link or embeddingthe map in a class website.
Why use it?
Students can use Google Maps to:

Keep track o class pen pals

Take virtual tours o countries where a languagethey are studying is spoken. (Include planning orlocal transportation, site-seeing, dining and hotelreservations!)

Learn about animal and plant lie by embeddinginormation in maps o dierent habitats.Teachers can use Google Maps to:

Create a map o the school or school events or parents.

Teach history by embedding primary documents intointeractive maps or students to explore.
