Saint Augustine was one of the church fathers in the early church. He was born in

Tagaste in North Africa. His father was a pagan, but his mother was a Christian. He spent his

teen years, and later went to Carthage to study. At Carthage, he fell into the evils of the city.

Augustine became a Manichaean. In 386, Augustine had an epiphany and he converted to

Christianity. He wanted to become a priest, and he was ordained in 391. For the next 5 years,

Augustine was a fruitful priest, doing many things in the Church. At the age of forty-two he then

became coadjutor-bishop of Hippo. Till his death in 439, Augustine wrote two significant books:

“Confessions” and “City of God. Augustine’s feast date is on the 28th of August.
