Here are some thatmay be unfamiliar or are my designated abbreviations for this pattern.PM: place marker B: work seed stitch border C6B: place first 3 stitches on cable needle held behind work, knit the next 3 stitches,then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needleC6F: place first 3 stitches on cable needle held in front of work, knit the next 3 stitches,then knit the 3 stitches from the cable needle* *: repeat stitches between symbols as many times as pattern states
Instructions:
Cast on 53 stitches.
Border:
Row 1 (Set up row): This row is *K1,P1* to the last stitch then K1. Markers are placed between stitches in this way- 7sts, PM, 9sts, PM, 6sts, PM, 9sts, PM, 6sts, PM, 9sts, PM,7sts for a total of 53 stitches.Rows 2-10: Work in seed stitch (*K1, P1* repeating to last stitch, K1. On the next rowrepeat the pattern but notice that you are knitting the purls and purling the knits to createthe seed stitch patterning).
Body:
For all body rows, work the first and last 7 stitches of each row in seed stitch.Row 11 (RS): B7, *P3, K3, YO, P3, K6* (2x), P3, K3, YO, P3, B7.Row 12 (WS): B7, *K3, P4, K3, P6* (2x), K3, P4, K3, B7.Row 13: B7, P3, K1, K2tog, YO, K1, P3, C6B, P3, K1, K2tog, YO, K1, P3, C6F, P3,K1, K2tog, YO, K1, P3, B7Row 14: B7, *K3, P2, P2tog, K3, P6* (2x), K3, P2, P2tog, K3, B7.Row 15: B7, *P3, K1, YO, K2tog, P3, K6* (2x), P3, K1, YO, K2tog, P3, B7.Row 16: B7, *K3, P3, K3, P6* (2x), K3, P3, K3, B7.Repeat Rows 11-16 sixty times or until the scarf is the desired length before blocking.A chart is provided on the last page for knitters who prefer charted directions.After completing Row 16 of the final repeat, work 10 rows in seed stitch before loosely binding off.
