What is Global Climate Change?
Global climate change
is a change inthe long-term weather patterns thatcharacterize the regions of the world. Theterm "weather" refers to the short-term(daily) changes in temperature, wind,and/or precipitation of a region. Weather is influenced by the sun. The sun heatsthe earth's atmosphere and its surfacecausing air and water to move around theplanet.

Some of the sun's incoming long waveradiation is reflected back to space byaerosols. Aerosols are very small particlesof dust, water vapor, and chemicals inEarth's atmosphere. In addition, some of the sun's energy that has entered Earth'satmosphere is reflected into space by theplanet's surface. The reflectivity of Earth'ssurface is called albedo. Both of thesereflective processes have a cooling affecton the planet.
