: Director of Business Development

SUMMARY:
The director of business development is responsible for designing and implementingbusiness recruitment strategies for the region.
DUTIES:
 
Utilize a data-centered approach to develop strategies for the recruitment and retention of businesses and jobs in the region (in coordination with localities) including identifying targetbusiness clusters
 
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends that may impact strategies
 
Take lead role in organizing and executing call programs, marketing missions and tradeshowactivities
 
Coordinate lead creation and management
 
Develop and pursue all leads
 
Provide comprehensive background information to guide director of research and webadministrator in preparation of presentation materials
 
Schedule and conduct prospect visits and meetings with appropriate government officials andbusiness leaders as they can be helpful in the recruitment process
 
Create activity reports as required
 
Build positive relationships with stakeholders, VEDP staff, and economic allies
 
Develop, implement and participate in special business community events to promote businessdevelopment and vitality
 
Represent the RRP in the community as requested
 
And other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
 
Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook. Internet Explorer, Word, Excel, and Power Point. Alsofamiliarity with databases
 
Excellent written and oral presentation skills
 
Excellent interpersonal skills that create an ability to gain the trust and confidence of stakeholders, allies, and prospects
 
Demonstrated record of success in sales/marketing. Experience in economicdevelopment/commercial real estate a plus
 
Customer service orientation
 
Ability to lead in a team-oriented work environment
 
Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize
 
Self-motivator with ability to approach job responsibilities from an entrepreneurial perspective
 
Understanding of the mission and goals of the RRP
 
Commitment to continuous improvement in all job responsibilities.
