Lesson # 1
PROPS: globe, picture of globe; bellDISCUSSION:Talk briefly about the International Day of Peace. Option: Invitea guest to speak with students about participating organizations.Discuss the observation of 1 minute of silence around the wholeworld. Teach students how to count to 10 on their fingers whilemaintaining silence. If anyone breaks the silence during 10 seconds,have the group start over, until the 10 seconds is upheld. Theexperience is meant to be a group game.Assign one child a small bell to ring at the end of 10 seconds, oncethe silence is working with the whole group. Let the child with thebell be the decider.SING:Teach the song
Minute of Silence
