The summation of the June 3, 2009 community meeting held at the MountPleasant Library is as follows:The meeting was opened with a welcome by Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper whothen introduced Helen Hiltz, Branch Manager.Ms. Hiltz informed the attendees that she recently transferred to the MountPleasant Library from the Takoma Park Library and remarked that they are bothCarnegie libraries and historic buildings. Her presentation included the following:

A brief history of the Mount Pleasant Library;
•
Library programs and services at the Mount Pleasant library;
•
Challenges and constraints presented to the staff due to the limited sizeand physical layout of the Mount Pleasant library; and
•

Century Capital Projects, then gave apresentation on the development and evolution of the current design for therenovation and the expansion of the Mount Pleasant Library. He brought theattendees up-to-date regarding the meetings (held since the last communitymeeting) with Councilman Jim Graham and an ad hoc group of ANCrepresentatives and residents to continue the engagement about the proposedbuilding addition, fire safety and other issues.DC Councilmember Jim Graham addressed the meeting and recounted themeetings held on May 13
