forced to look for it? Did you meet your spouse by accident or were you atthat party for a reason? The central question is this: is life simply a chain of coincidences or is there some sort of plan involved?
I Believe that Things do Happen for a Reason
If I look back at my life I can now see that everything that happened to me
ledmetothenextstageofmylife.Thereisadenitetrajectoryandonewith
meaning. For instance, I left college in the Northeast and eventually woundup back in the Midwest where I landed a job in radio that led to a 20-year career. Had I stayed at Syracuse, I never would have ended up in radio. Wasit just chance?
Difcult Challenges Leave us with New Knowledge
 Notonlythat,thedifcultchallengesthatIfacedalwaysleftmewithsome
new knowledge that I used in my evolution. Everything led me to where I amtoday, an older but much wiser woman.
Divorce Knocks our Lights Out
It is almost impossible to imagine that it is happening for a reason. But di-vorce can be seen as yet another step in our evolution as a human being. Thechallenges we face in life force us to grow and expand if we choose to do so.
Flow with the River
If we assume that there is a reason for what is happening then we are moreopen to seeing what life is attempting to teach us. If we accept, and not resist,this new direction in which our life is moving, new possibilities arise for us.
Weareeitherowingwiththeriver’sdirectionorweareghtingagainstthe
current and getting nowhere.
Moving Forward into New Territories
Oncewehavedonetheworkofdivorcerecovery,wegainsignicantin
-sights into our lives and ourselves. We learn lessons that give us wisdom wenever would have accessed had divorce not occurred. Hard lessons true, butthose are the ones that gift us with new information that we can use to moveforward into new territories.2
