Course Description: This course is designed to extend and to maximize the awareness, knowledge, and
development of ones culture through language and language skills.
Specific Objectives:
At the end of the term, each student should be able to:
1. Determine the functions and importance of language
2. Identify and measure the changes in language development
3. Comprehend English in both Language and Culture
4. Determine the effects of culture in schooling, second language acquisition and ways to help
English learners achieve language skills
5. Evaluate cultural patters that influence and develop language skills
6. Illustrate and show relationship of language and culture
7. Determine the importance of language and culture to a person, to a learner, and to well-oriented
individuals
