KT4 Manual Motor Starter 
Ideal or use as a manualstarter
The KT4 is a manual motor starterthat employs the eatures o powerswitching, thermal overload protec-tion and control circuit signaling inone compact unit. This manual motorstarter has the advantage o a highspeed magnetic trip mechanism whichlimits the let-through current undershort-circuit conditions. The KT4can be supplied with feld installableshunt trip or an under voltage tripunit which exceeds the capabilities o the classic manual motor starter. Thismanual motor starter is available in avariety o enclosures including generalpurpose, watertight and explosionproo (the most compact on the mar-ket today).
KT4 Reduces panel spaceand saves money in GroupMotor Installations
The KT4 can eliminate the need orlarger and more expensive use blocksand used disconnects, or circuitbreakers. The potential cost savings ingroup motor installations accordingNEC 430-53c can be as much as 35%over conventional methods o branchcircuit protection. And, because somany eatures are combined into onesmall unit, panel space can be slashedby as much as 60%.In addition, the KT4 line oers a wideapplication range rom 0.1 to 16 FLA in installations up to 600V. For groupmotor applications, the KT4 series hasa 250A group installation rating, witha withstand rating as high as 42 KAIC.
Excellent short circuit andthermal overload protection
In the event o a short-circuit, thecontacts are opened by magnetic, non-adjusting tripping elements in timesapproaching 2/1000 o a second. Thisresults in the extremely rapid build-upo an arc voltage which limits the cur-rent o the short-circuit to a very low level. Because o this superb currentlimiting capability the let-throughcurrent is signifcantly reduced and thepotential or damage is limited.Because each KT4 is individually calibrated at the actory or the small-est and largest current, very accuratethermal overload protection is alsoobtained. In addition, the KT4 is aClass 10 device ... it trips within 10seconds under a locked rotor condition(6 x FLA). Every KT4 Manual Mo-tor Starter is equipped with automaticambient temperature compensation, which continually adjusts to surround-ing temperatures. As a result, triptimes remain constant and accurate.

 Whether in group motor installationsor as a manual motor starter, numer-ous feld installable accessories areavailable to enhance the KT4’s peror-mance:
