What is a Community
Liaison O!cer?
A Community Liaison O#cer is
a member of the Sheri"s O#ce
who has been designated to be
the face for the community.
It is the Liaisons job to be in
the publics eye to promote our
Agencys agenda of modern day
Community Policing. The
Community Liaison O#cer
attends regular meetings in the
Hilltowns, participates in crime
prevention programs, and serves
as a point of contact and
representative for the Sheri"s
O#ce.
Deputy Tracy Mance has been
chosen to be the CLO. She is
available for non&emergency
concerns, questions, and for
scheduling of informational
talks. She also coordinates any
events for the Sheri"s O#ce to

PROMOTING HEALTY CHOICES ! BETHLEHEM YMCA HEALTHY KIDS DAY
For the third consecutive year, the Albany
County Sheri"s O#ce and Operation Safe Child
participated in the Bethlehem YMCA Healthy Kids
Day. Parents were able to have their childs
information entered into the Amber Alert data base
if ever there was an incident where their child was
lost or missing. Child identication cards were
provided which include a photo, ngerprint, and
basic descriptors. A Sheri"s car was also made
available for children $and adults!% to get inside and
see what the inside of a real police car looks like.

CAPITAL REGION CONSTRUCTION CAREER DAY ! SCOTIA NAVAL BASE
The Albany County Sheri"s
O#ce attended the 13th Annual
Capital Region Construction
Career Day held in Scotia&
Glenville at the Naval Operational
Support Center. High school
juniors and seniors from all over
the Capital Region attended this
two day event that not only
informs them on Field Careers,
but also allows them to have fun
with a little hands&on. Large
machinery and equipment were
available for the students to
operate.
The Sheri"s display included
a fully marked police unit and the
MRAP. Deputy Tracy Mance and
Deputy Denis Kelly were there to
provide the students with
information for a career in law
enforcement and assisted students
in arresting fellow classmates
using basic hand&cu" techniques.
Sherree Seabast from the STOP
DWI Unit was also on board with
pamphlets on teen drug and
alcohol use and the famous Fatal
Vision goggles. These allow
students to safely get an idea of
what it looks and feels like with
the blood alcohol content over the
legal limit.
BLUE FRIDAY OF NEW YORK
Mi ne-Resi stant Ambush Protected
(MRAP) is an armored ghting vehicle
that is used by armed forces to protect
them from exploding devices, attacks,
and ambushes. ACSO acquired an
MRAP to their eet for free on a
military surplus..

BLUE LINE!UP
April 25th, 2014 marked the 10th Annual Blue Friday to honor sacrices that police
o#cers have made. Blue Friday of New York teamed with WGNA and Hannaford to host
the event in the Hannaford Parking lot on Wolf Road in Colonie. Blue Friday of New York
o"ers various items for sale to raise money for families of fallen o#cers.

AMERICAN RED CROSS
The American Red Cross has a
specialized unit that provides
services to families of the Armed
Services with deployed family
members. During April Spring
Break, the Red Cross made
arrangements to take the children
of these families for daily activities
to provide assistance. ACSO
provided a day of touring the
various O#ces of the Sheri"
including Headquarters, County
Court, Albany International
Airport, County Correctional
Facility, Patrol, and 911. The tour
was also able to see the inside of
the Mobile Operations Unit and a
quick ride in the WRAP.
WESTMERE FIRE DEPARTMENT FUN DAY
AND RECRUITMENT
Westmere Fire Department took
advantage of the Firemen Association of
The State of New Yorks recruitment
weekend and not only provided information
to potential volunteer re persons, but
to also host a fun day for the whole family.
The new re house was open to the public o"ering activities for the family.
The Sheri"s O#ce was also invited to attend this special event. Fire trucks
and the Sheri"s Patrol car were on display for children to sit in and
Operation Safe Child was there collecting childrens information and
providing identication cards. Where was the MRAP? Could not miss the
Sheri"s armored vehicle parked out front on display.
