About the British Columbia Film Commission
The BC Film Commission is your gateway to film production inBC. Created in 1978, the BC Film Commission promotes BritishColumbia as a motion picture destination and a world-classproduction centre to the international film and television industry.We offer a full range of services for film producers and productioncompanies interested in what our province has to offer.
The BC Film Commission, a branch of the provincialgovernment, maintains an on-line registration systemfor all productions planning to do business in BritishColumbia.Though the BC Film Commission does not grantlocation permits, it assists producers, locationsmanagers and scouts in identifying the right locations,whether these are controlled privately, throughmunicipal, provincial, or federal governments, orthrough interest groups. The Film Commission offersservices in referral, marketing and mediation, and canserve as an interface between film and televisionproducers and private and public property owners.

The Community Affairs office at the BC FilmCommission has been instrumental in workingproactively with the filming community, residentialand business owners, and government agencies toensure BC remains a supportive, film-friendly locationcentre. This office monitors and manages day-to-dayissues that arise as a result of production activity andacts as a facilitator and information source for all levelsof government, industry, business and the generalpublic.
Producers and Location Managers use both ourProduction Services and Community Affairsdepartments regularly for production research andinformation, location expertise, digital training andtechnical support. We provide assistance with contactinformation for production requirements such as:studio and post production facilities, support services,permitting agencies, labour unions and guilds,immigration and customs.
