PERFORMANCE MEASURE:

June 30, 2014. Through May the City received 88 requests, fulfilling 65 of the completed

Code Compliance Summary Report
During this monthly reporting period (through 5/22/14), City Code Compliance staff
fielded a total of 27 code compliance requests. A total of 25 active cases were closed
over this same time period. For this calendar year, 172 code compliance requests have
been received, and 118 of these cases have been closed.
Of the requests logged this month, a large majority of these (>80%) were followed-up on
with an initial investigation within 2 business days.
TRENDS:
The number of code compliance requests was 47% lower than the previous month. The
number of requests fluctuates substantially from month to month. The most common
types of requests continue to involve reports of excessively-bright lighting, unpermitted
signage, unpermitted construction or landscaping, and Right-of-Way encroachments.
Signage concerns continue to be a focus of recent code compliance efforts.
NOTES:
Community Planning and Building staff have initiated a review and update of the City' s
Planning Permit Application forms. The City' s Sign Permit application and banner
display applications were recently updated, and these updated applications are intended to
clarify the process for applicants. City staff will continue to work to ensure that
merchants are aware of the City's sign regulations and the need to obtain a sign permit
prior to installation.
Election signs placed in the Right-of-Way require both a temporary signage permit and
an encroachment permit. These also need to avoid presenting a hazard to vehicular,
pedestrian, or bicycle traffic. A proactive approach to election signs in the ROW is
planned prior to the fall general election.
