Do you want to keep your New Year's Resolutions? Here is a quick and easy suggestion: preparefor your resolution like you are leading your favorite rock band on tour! All you have to do islook at your group's concert T-shirt to keep you motivated.The front of a typical concert T-shirt has the band's logo or picture, while the back has the nameof the tour with the dates and locations where the band will perform. This kind of T-shirt willhelp you keep your New Year's Resolutions.Let's say that your New Year's Resolution is to “lose 20 pounds this year.” Keep in mind that any

or what you want to

will be more difficult from the outset. Thereasons why and how to make your goals

For this example, you can keep the goal of wanting to“lose 20 pounds this year” and simply add the words “of body fat tissue.”Several things will have to happen if you want to achieve this goal of losing 20 pounds of bodyfat tissue, while getting healthier in the process. You need to know what to do, have a long-term plan, develop short-term goals so that you see your progress, and make some minor lifestylemodifications. Since the extra 20 pounds of body fat tissue didn't develop overnight, you shouldunderstand that it will take some time to reduce it. The good news is that it won't take as long toLOSE the 20 pounds of body fat as it did to GET it! Now it's time to use the concert tour T-shirt idea to help you reach your goal. Let's assume thatyou decide that it will take five to six months to reach your goal. That is fine! What you can do atthe outset is create your own “Concert Tour” schedule. Here is an example for losing 20 poundsof body fat in five to six months:

: Read good educational material on nutrition, exercise, and motivation likeFit IntoYour Jeans©.

: Test out some of the ideas inFit Into Your Jeans© to prove that YOU CANREACH THIS GOAL! Drink more water each day, and eat 100% healthy meals for at least 3days each week. Get any like-minded friends or family members to join you to help you staymotivated.

week 
: Decide on which exercise activity you want to do, the necessary equipment or fees,and when you want the activity to start. Set aside the money and time to find out about and pay for what you want… in advance!

th
week 
: Start your exercises. Record your body weight and body-fat percentage. Alsorecord the day and time of day you weighed yourself, since your weight can fluctuatedramatically during the course of a day.

: Increase the number of exercises gradually, as well as the duration of your exercises, amount of weight used, and any other measures of progress in your exerciseroutine. This will prove to you that you are making steady progress! Increase the number of “100% healthy meal” days from at least 3 to 4 this week.
 
6th week 
: Weigh yourself at the same time and day of the week as when you first weighedyourself. Record your new body-fat percentage. Assuming that you properly followed goodadvice you will discover that you made progress in weight and/or body-fat percentage.Progress in either area should be commended!

 By this time (six weeks into the New Year) you are staying motivated more thanmost other people have been regarding their own resolutions.
 Keep up the good work!
 
 
Keep going with this list for the entire five or six months needed to reach your goalIf you REALLY want to make progress and keep your New Year's resolutions then consider actually making your own “New Year's Resolution Tour” T-shirt! Imagine wearing your veryown “concert” T-shirt with a list of your dates in the future for where you want to be. You canadd a design of your realistic goal on the front of the shirt. Have fun and create your own logo,color patterns, and any slogans you want!Wearing this T-shirt out in public will have others asking you what you are doing and motivatethem to join you. If so, you will have extra reason to stay motivated because others will want youto succeed so that they can succeed as well.
 
Remember that while a concert T-shirt shows where the band is going to be over the upcomingweeks and months, the band has fun at each stop along the way. Take a lesson from the bandsand create your own version of fun for each step along the way. When your “tour” is over - the point where you reach your goal - take a week off and then create a new T-shirt for your nextlong-term goal!
