Purpose South Eastern School District considers homework to be an essential component of the total learning experience for all young persons.Homework is perceived as an extension of classroom activities, which help studentsdevelop intellectual skills and greater insight into subject matters.Homework assignments should complement classroom instruction. Assignmentsshould develop student responsibility, self-discipline, good study habits andorganizational skills.The purpose of homework assignments should be to:1.
 
Provide practice and reinforcement of skills.2.
 
Broaden areas of interest through enrichment.3.
 
To develop independent research skills.4.
 
Encourage parent and child interaction.2. Guidelines Homework shall be planned and evaluated with respect to its purpose,appropriateness, accuracy, and completion. The demand of homework upon thestudents' time shall be consistent with the best interests of the students in regards toother valuable experiences to be gained outside of school.Homework should not interfere with the proper development of the student's health,nor should it interfere with the student assuming responsibilities in the home.Homework will not be assigned as a form of punishment.
