About the Authors:
Mark S. Boguski, M.D., Ph.D. is on the faculty of Harvard Medical School at the Francis Countway Library

of Medicine and also in the Department of Pathology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston. Dr.
Boguski is a graduate of the Medical Scientist Training Program (MSTP) at Washington University School of
Medicine in St. Louis and has previously held positions at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine,
the U.S. National Institutes of Health and the U.S. National Library of Medicine and as an executive in the
biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. Dr. Boguski is a former vice president of Novartis and was honored
as a Visionary and Influencer by the Personalized Medicine Coalition in 2006 and was elected to the Institute of
Medicine of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences in 2001. Dr. Boguski is the Founder of Resounding Health

Incorporated, a company dedicated to providing consumers with authoritative, reliable and timely medical and
health information.
David A. Sinclair, Ph.D. is a Professor in the Pathology Department at Harvard Medical School, Boston,

and is Co-Director of the Glenn Laboratories for Aging Research. He is known for his research into genes and
small molecules that control the body’s defenses against disease and aging. Dr. Sinclair has received numerous
academic awards, has authored over 65 scientific publications, and was honored with being one of the “brightest
minds under 45” in 2006. In 2004 he co-founded Sirtris Pharmaceuticals to develop drugs to treat age-associated
diseases, which was acquired by GlaxoSmithKline. In 2006, he co-founded Genocea Biosciences, a vaccine
discovery company, to prevent diseases in developed and developing countries. Dr. Sinclair’s research has been
featured in major print media and has appeared on Nightline, The Charlie Rose Show, 60 minutes, Barbara Walters
Special and Nova. He is currently a Senior Scholar of the Ellison Medical Foundation.
