Daya Trust celebrated
International Womens Day
Daya Trust partnered with Wellington
Women Walk for Peace, Womens
Refuge & Shakti Wellington to celebrate
International Womens Day on 8 March
2013. A Peace Walk was held during the
day, followed by a Peace Festival in the
evening and a fundraising auction.

Daya Trust brought the Girl
Rising movie to New Zealand
to promote girls education
In April 2013 we partnered with the
Graduate School of Nursing,
Midwifery & Health Services to show
the movie in Wellington. In October,
we screened the movie in Auckland
to celebrate International Day of the
Girl.
Screening Girl Rising Movie
Girl Rising tells the story of nine girls around the
world and their fight for education. A global
movement is underway.
Daya Trust sent the first
visitors to our Girls Learning
Centre in Mumbai
Natalie Rout, a UK doctor, visited
the centre in July 2013. Daya
Trustee, Niki McCartney, visited
the centre in September along
with New Zealand School
Principal, John Armstrong.

Daya Trust partnered with
Global Volunteer Network to
hold two fundraising movie
events in August 2013.
Half the Sky and More 4 Me were
screened in Wellington, New Zealand
followed by panel discussions about
how to make a difference and take
action.

Expanding the conversations
The Half the Sky movie comes from the book of the
same name, written by Pulitzer Prize winners
Nicholas Kristof and Sheryl Wu Dunn
Her Excellency Vicki Treadell,
hosted a fundraising lunch for
Daya Trust to celebrate
International Day of the Girl
in October 2013.
A group of 30 women celebrated the
day, learning more about the
importance of educating girls and
how to participate in the cause.

Leadership Programme in 2014
We continued to participate and lead
public discussions around the
importance of educating girls
Daya Founder, Rochelle Stewart-Allen,
was awarded a CALI Award by Five
Point Five for her work with Daya Trust

an Indian NGO to enable
expansion of girls learning
centres in 2015
Continue to develop as a social
enterprise
Begin seeking corporate
sponsorship & increased
grants funding
