THE EFFECT OF BACK MASSAGE ON JOINT PAIN COMPLAINT IN EDERLY AT
WISMA ASISI SUKABUMI

Joint disorder is a disease that many in the community have encountered, the disease
is synonymous with age, particularly the elderly, the risk of joint disorders is enormous. The
most disturbing thing of joint disorders is pain, this is the reason people with joint disorders
seek treatment, both pharmacological and nonpharmacological. The purpose of this study
was to determine the effect of back massage to complaints of joint pain.
Back massage is one of the simple manipulation to rub the body part so as to provide
a relaxing effect on the body and give you peace. It is certainly a good option to overcome
joint pain disorders
Type of research in this study is a research experiment with uasi experimental
approach. The research was carried out for ! days as much as " times a day from the start
date of #ay $%, $&"' until #ay '", $&"'. The samples in this study were all elderly with
impaired joint in (ssisi )ensions *ukabumi as many as "! people. +ith purposive sampling
techniue. (nalysis )aried hypothesis using T,test.
The results in "! people get that back massage before giving an average pain scale
-.'', and after the massage given pain scale back an average /.-%. Based on the test
results of T,test )aried that no effect on joint pain back massage. +ith a back massage p
value 0 &.&&& 1p 2&.&!3.
The conclusion of this study is no effect of massage backs against joint pain.
