RITTER APPOINTS BARBARA KELLEY TO LEAD REGULATORY AGENCIES Gov. Bill Ritter announced today that he has appointed Barbara J. Kelley ofDenver, a prominent attorney with expertise in finance, real estate and business,to serve as the new executive director of the Colorado Department of RegulatoryAgencies. Her appointment is effective Dec. 1. Kelley is currently a partner with the law firm Kamlet Reichert. She has beenpracticing law for more than 30 years, is a member of the American, Colorado,Denver and Sam Cary bar associations, and recently was honored as one of Law WeekColorado’s “2009 Top Women Lawyers.” “Barbara is a strong leader whose dynamic set of skills, knowledge and experiencewill be of great value to the people and businesses served by the ColoradoDepartment of Regulatory Agencies,” Gov. Ritter said. “In this tough economy, weneed leaders like Barbara whose fresh ideas and new approaches will help protectconsumers, support small businesses and guide us toward a quick, strong andsustainable recovery.” “It is with great honor I accept this appointment from Gov. Ritter, and it is withgreat appreciation that I embrace this role and its many duties given themultitude of divisions within DORA,” Kelley said. “I look forward to applying myexperience and ideas to guide the continuing pursuit of the department’s missionas we all work towards economic recovery in Colorado.”Kelley earned her bachelor’s and law degrees from Indiana University inBloomington. At Kamlet Reichert, she specializes in corporate and financingtransactions, commercial banking, commercial real estate, as well as generalcommercial and business matters. She heads the firm’s secured transactionspractice area.
