Tips for Dealing with A Non-Raw Spouse
By Sonja Watt
I am sure many of you know this situation. You would love to just go raw, butthere is this other part of the family who is not so sure about it, questioningeverything you do -- just giving you a hard time, or so it seems. If you are lucky,he/she leaves you alone with your alien-like acting.
"Whaaat? You want to livelike a rabbit for the rest of your life? What about OUR life?"
might be asked.Sound familiar? Yes, I've been there as well. Or, maybe your partner is moreunderground; he will grind his teeth for a long time yet making sure you still getthe I-don't-like-this signs. You won't believe how many would like to be like you, living raw, that is, but can'tlet go and try it, so once in a while exploding why and how you can do that tohim? To him? You will find yourself offending people you didn’t even think about. After you detangle some parts of this, you realize that after all, it is you who wantsto change and not the others!Just make sure that he can eat whatever he wants. It still is his body, and somepeople do like to suffer! Hey, this is training...tolerance training! If you can dothat, you are good to go for society! But that is just a short version from my experience. Here are some tips to make it easier for YOU!~ Tell them (your family members) what is important to YOU! Let them know what you are doing and why. Let them know you love them nevertheless and only want your/their best! Depending on how open they are about your sudden life-changing, scary ideas, you might consider eating separate for a while - until youare more settled with what you are doing.~ Arrange a raw-food test period; tell them to try it with you for a month and see what they think after that! The experience can speak for itself!~ Try to introduce more fresh food without talking about it. Big salads for dinner,(dried) fruit and nuts for children at school since their school food is often awful.Do fun stuff: Cut out fruit faces, make funny figures, etc., make raw spaghetti with a spiralizer, a yummy smoothie
(they won't even realize it's raw!)
and muchmore.~ Don't make a big deal about it! No lectures because somebody bites into a pieceof bread, unless they ask you. No begging, etc. It's supposed to be fun! So, don'tconnect it with bad thoughts and feelings!~ Show them by doing. Be the example.
