My old friend—look at me, And tell me how much hope remains for meWith this protuberance ! Oh I have no more Illusions ! Now and then—bah ! I may growTender, walking alone in the blue cool Of evening, through some garden fresh with flowers After the benediction of the rain ;My poor big devil of a nose inhales…-

For this reading log I picked Cyrano as my character because there is so much to Cyranoin the book. Cyrano has two very distinct sides to him. First of all he is a incredibly talented poetand fighter, and in some cases does well even doing both at the same time. He is a skilled manwith many friends and supporters. At the same time, Cyrano has made some enemies along theway even though he does not seem to care. Cyrano is also particularly sensitive about his body, especially his nose, and in the above quote believes he is not good enough for Roxanne.First of all Cyrano is a very talented and capable character. He is always singing poems, regardless of the situation he is in. If he is thinking about love or fighting another man, poetryalways seems to be involved. At the same time, fighting is also one of Cyrano’s abilities. Heonce defeated a hundred of de Guiche’s men that were supposed to murder Ligniere. In addition,Cyrano is very accepted among the women for not only is he a good fighter, but an excellentwarrior. Cyrano is a well known member of society and for good reasons.Unfortunately, even the greatest of characters have their flaws. Cyrano tends to beextremely sensitive about his large nose. Some people might just see it as a slightly oversizednose, but Cyrano is willing to
kill
anyone if they even gesture at his nose. This can be seen as a
