So someone called you and left you a nasty message, or someone is constantly callingyour number and hanging up. Maybe you just want to know who that number belongs tothat you saw on the bathroom door at the local bus station. Who knows? The easiestthing to do is to use a reverse number look up service. These services work like theopposite of 411 service. You just provide a number and they provide you with theaddress and name. There is one catch though. If you are trying tofind the number for acell phone, you may be out of luck. Most of the services will only show you localnumbers. Cell phone records are not as easy to come by and you need to hunt a lotharder in order to find out who they belong to. But the question is, is there a free reversecell phone directory available anywhere?Well, I went and did a search and did find that there are several services purporting tooffer the service. How well they do I really can’t say. I tried out a friend’s cell number and was left staring at a blank screen. Paid services claimed that they were able to provide me with full information, but the trouble is that they want you to pay for thoseservices.There is also another way to try to find out who a particular number belongs to and it’sthe cheapest method of all. Simply type the number into your favorite search engine. Ihave found on several occasions that the number would pop up on a search engine.More often than not, the number turned out to be from a telemarketer or even from acollection service, apparently calling the wrong person.
