COMENIUS PROJECT GREEN SKILLS FOR GLOBAL CHANGE

MEETING IN SLOVENIA 2014 MAY

STORY OF MY TRIP TO SLOVENIA 2014.

Started a course, but this time in a new school, Santa Clara. Apparently it is a course,
with new people and new teachers, but all that will change. The first day of course tell
us basically what they will consist of classes and grading criteria, and from that day
there are something different. Our philosophy teacher Eliseo tells us that we are in a
project called Green Skills for Global Change. At first this sounded to us all as Chinese,
but as the year wore on did various activities like opening a blog on renewable energy,
go to the Magdalena Peninsula or San Vicente de la Barquera to appreciate our
environment and resources natural. Even where it really starts our big adventure is when
our teacher tells us that there are a number of organized trips to other countries of the
European Union to share our problems with renewable energy, global solutions, share
different cultures and teach us to be flexible with exchange for development in Europe.
It's time to decide who wanted to travel and where. All this was a dream, thinking that
we could go to a country to meet new people, in our case as far as Slovenia without
paying anything was amazing, so without hesitation we started our adventure.
Without realizing it finally arrived on May 21 after a long wait that we were eager to
leave. We had been accumulated nerves, a week before we were told the family that we
stayed and had contacted them. Besides our desire increased when we saw the time
there all day sunny and 28 degrees.
Play our day. We got up at 5:30 in the morning, and at 7:30 we are in Bilbao to catch
our plane. We were able to check the suitcase, everything went smoothly. We got on the
plane from Bilbao to Munich, a 2 hour flight. From Munich to Zagreb, 1 hour flight.
Finally we took our luggage and we started to meet new people in the bus were going
with Portuguese and Dutch. Our English began to run.

Finally arrived to Slovenia and met all our families. When I got home from Antonella
did not really know how to speak or what but little by little by little we gain confidence
to be able to talk about everything together. That evening we were all students
convenius in a cafe to talk and put our things in common. Here we begin to learn that
despite living many miles away and have something different cultures eachother
perfectly.
The first day we visited Ljubljana, the capital and largest city of Slovenia. It did not
seem at all a capital because it was very quiet and with little noise.
There we visited the Bridge of Dragons (the dragon is the symbol of the city), the bridge
of the three rivers, the town hall, Novi trg, but what I liked was the main plaza Preseren
having three bridges, the Church Franciscan of the Annunciation and the great
Slovenian poet statue Preeren France.

After spending a bit of time in town, we took a small part of the coast where boats rode
and went to see the fish farms. In these fish farms were locked in a pen and I usually
had to eat them. This will have a well-fed and prevent fish are fish before they are too
small. Then we went to the salt mines. There, through a series of procedures is where
they get salt from seawater. The first thing they do is throw a few products to increase
its density, and the water slowly passes at different places in which there are fewer so
that water evaporates faster salt and then it moves is achieved and is transported to
various countries. The enclosure consists of plots I mentioned earlier and a freshwater
canal which you can not get salt.

On our second day we present our work of the institutes and country after country after
wind and did a debate about it divided into groups. In our group we had to defend for
not putting the mills near coastal areas giving reasons that the landscape is affected, can
contaminate water, these windmills kill thousands of birds in their marine habitat and
because in long beach these mills wind and collect energy, but this can not be stored,
there is no battery that can store as much, so when it is windy they must be stopped or
may overload so these might not be as effective as place for example in a plain where
not damage both the landscape and there is less wind. But despite all this other group
had the strongest arguments and able to earn.
After all this talk we went out to see how the seniors celebrated their graduation dancing
several dances in the town square. And then we could meet them and explained the
different races were going to do and her graduation trip. At lunchtime we went to a pic-
nick river. It was great even though it rained a bit then stopped and sat down to eat at a
floating platform into the river.

There we could sing dance, laugh and understand how the place you provengas not
about the way you are and how we fit perfectly all sharing our customs.
On Saturday morning we had sports. A Pilar, Maria and me we had to participate in
traditional dance. Was to form a circle given by the hand and walk and move his hands
to the rhythm of a song played on an accordion while in the center of the circle was a
boy or a girl around and had to choose a person of the opposite sex for her to dance to
the center. Sara on the other hand finished painting the logo convenius that was painted
on the wall and this was the result.

The moon represents Turkey, the Eiffel Tower in France, the dragon Slovenia, Spain
crown to the mill to the Netherlands, Denmark and Mermaid Cock Portugal.

That same day, the last day BBQed farewell. A barbecue at 27 C is not bad. Then we
climbed a small hill they could see the sights of Crnomelj.

These views and so well together is a luxury to dismiss my last day there. Evening was
organized a disco where we had dinner and then we were dancing until 12:00. The truth
is that this was the best day ever and the best bachelor Slovenia you can have.

What I've learned from this trip is that no matter where you proceed to the end of the
day we will all have many things in common. I had the pleasure of getting to meet
really wonderful people, people in Slovenia that I will never be able to forget in my life
because this is one of those experiences that you are marked. I have also learned that in
this life we must not be shy or you care so much feedback from others, just dare, let
your hair down and enjoy every moment to the fullest because no one can return to
repeat. And above all, another very important thing is to be yourself and give your best
to others, and all will be well.
Finally I want to thank the family of Antonella. They have made me feel more like a
family and taught me how Slovenians never hungry lol, I think I could not have been
luckier. And also is that everything is not going to end here that five days can be very
few, but enough to meet amazing people and fit perfectly. Thanks to all Portuguese,
Danish, Dutch, Slovenian, French and Turkish for letting me be a small part of their
lives and they have taken a part of me I will never forget. Hope to see you soon.
