Description

This Encyclical of the Church of Constantinople, issued in reply to the Papal Encyclical of Leo XIII in 1895 concerning reunion, is intended to re-assert and re-declare the truth that the Holy Orthodox Catholic Church is the only true continuation of the Early Undivided Church, and that Rome can return to the Church only when she abandons her errors.

This publication aims, moreover, to remind the Orthodox reader of the doctrinal differences that keep Rome separated from the Church and to prevent him from falling victim to the Propaganda.

Finally, concerning the Papal visit to the Phanar in 2006, the Ecumenical Patriarchate should consider this ancient Encyclical, send it to Rome, and divorce the Patriarchate from the ecumenical movement and all of its gatherings.

Written some time later, "An Open Letter to Catholics on Orthodoxy and Ecumenism" is an attempt to address some of the same concerns.... which haven't changed much.
