How to Create aStop-Motion Animation
www.MonkeyWingDesigns.com
This is a short tutorial that will show you how to create a stop-motion animation. You will need:

a digital camera.

a stand or tripod for the camera.

a story line.

some actors or characters such as toys or clay.
One
Set up the camera on the tripod in a sturdy position and make sure that it can’t move. When framing the shot, care should be taken not to include elements which may givea time or movement discrepancy to the shot. For example, a clock face would showthe hands spinning round too fast in the finished film, or a tree shadow may movealarmingly.
Two
It is a good idea to set your camera settings to take low resolution pictures so that themovie doesn’t become a big file. It is ideal to set the photos on 3MB. You can do thiswith all digital cameras in the setting menu.
Three
It is a good idea to take a photo of your hand at the beginning of each scene beforeyou start the movie, to clearly show where each scene starts and ends. This will helpwhen you are editing the film.
Four
Take a photo of the scene. If you have people in the scene, make sure they stay verystill. Then ask your actors to move slightly. It is best that they do not move too much. Besure to take lots of photos otherwise the motion will appear too jumpy and it will be toohard to see what’s going on. Take a few experimental shots and click through them onyour camera’s screen to see if the movement flows. If you require fast action, makeyour models move more than you previously had.
