1.1 Synopsis
The purpose of this paper is to draw attention to the similarities and obvious connections between architecture and music. By drawing connections between the two forms of art, we can open our minds and have a more unique approach to design. Architecture has a set of theories, guidelines and design schemes that were drawn from different styles and methods of design. We can describe an
architectural project with words such as uidity, rhythm, texture, and harmony. Words that are also commonly used to describe musical compositions. Therefore if the theoretical ideology of both music and architecture come from the same creative place, we should be able to use concepts from both elds interchangeably. The dissolution of spaces can translate to chord structures in a song. The ligature of a melody can translate to uidity in motion. Both forms of
arts work parallel to one another.
