Tribute to Ed Partin - It is with

great sadness that McMinnville says
goodbye to a dear friend, businessman,
humanitarian, civic leader and one of
McMinnville-Warren County’s biggest
cheerleaders - Ed Partin, who passed
away on September 12th, 2009. Ed
lived a life that many would like to
live. He was always happy, helpful,
and determined to make a difference.
He is fondly remembered by many
friends, clients, and business associates. His unfaltering work in
promoting McMinnville-Warren County brought many changes to
the historic downtown area and helped many new folks discover why
McMinnville is such a great place to live, work, and visit. Although
I didn’t know Ed very well, I feel like I knew what he meant to so
many. Many of us don’t take the opportunity to live a life that makes
a difference and enjoy ours in the process. Ed did. He gave so much
and made such a difference by deeds big and small, never asking
anything in return. Everyone can learn a lesson from Ed’s lifestyle.
By giving, seeking positive change, and believing in yourself and
God, you too can make a difference in your life and in the lives of
others. Make a choice to give back. Give a little or give a lot. It
does make a difference. I know that Ed Partin’s contributions made
McMinnville-Warren County a better place and he will be sorely
missed. Goodbye, Ed and thank you from all of us.

One of America’s favorite pastimes is shopping and having a one of a
kind experience. This is something that you can easily find at Antiques
and the Arts in downtown McMinnville, TN. Owner Sherrill Bull
has never met a stranger. She welcomes her guests with her infectious
smile and warm personality - like many in the Fall Creek Falls (FCF)
region. Sherrill and husband, George - who owns and operates George
Bull Band Instruments (located at Antiques and the Arts) - opened their
business four years ago for the love of what they both do. Sherrill
offers an eclectic array of antiques, some rare pieces, primitive and
antique furniture, estate jewelry, vintage clothing, hats and accessories,
collectibles, antique dolls, and a high quality instrument section offered
by George. Sherrill also proudly displays and highlights local stoneware
potter Dorinda Watts. Dorinda has refined her talents to offer a wide
selection of serving pieces, casserole dishes, cornbread bakers, mugs,
vases, and decorative pieces for any kitchen, home or special gift.

Sherrill loves to show her guests around or offer her visitors space to
browse and take in all of her treasures. She can tender advice for your
home or make recommendations for a special gift, and loves to tell
about her love of McMinnville and the FCF region, and some of the
special events in the county.

Sherrill moved to McMinnville over ten years ago and has lovingly
rallied the businesses in downtown McMinnville together in
conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce and City Government to
make downtown McMinnville a destination for shopping, eating, and
socializing. Sadly, many downtown areas in the United States have
been forever lost. However, in some cases, like Historic Downtown
McMinnville, they have been revitalized to offer a vibrant community.

Antiques and the Arts is a celebration of love, timeless treasures,

memorabilia, and culture captured within the many eras of treasures.
In addition to this vast collection, George’s wonderful love of music
offers a charming addition to the store through the harmonious sounds
of his new and classic instruments. He is an instrument connoisseur
and highly skilled professional who loves to share his passion for music
with others. He can often be found playing in the oldest community
band in Tennessee (the “Silver and Gold” band which was founded in
1886) playing several performances a year. George offers clarinet and
saxophone lessons to those eager to learn. He specializes in stocking
woodwind and brass musical instruments on all levels, including
student, intermediate, and professional instruments. He also offers
repairs and music accessories, including music books, vintage sheet
music, mouthpieces and reeds along with cleaning and maintenance
supplies. George’s areas of specialty also include selling and taking
care of quality band instruments which are available for purchase or
rent. Our sons, Grant and Blake, recently took up guitar lessons with
Sam Bailey of Livingston, TN. George fixed us up with a guitar on
the rent to own program. One of my favorite pieces are the melodious
lamps - wildly popular custom built lamps out of guitars, clarinets,
flutes or other instruments. This one-of-a-kind collection of Melodious
Lamps is perfect for a special room, guest bedroom, music room or a
great gift for that musician in your family or circle of friends. Antiques
and the Arts is definitely the heart of the McMinnville merchants. It is
often a meeting place for those visiting, the community, and the place
to find that special gift or accessory for your home or vacation home.
Come in and experience Antiques and the Arts and say “hello” to
Sherrill and George. Stay a while and visit and don’t forget to tell them
that “Annie sent you”!

as well. Hiking, swimming, boating, and golf are just a few
of the activities that can be enjoyed there. The Homesteads
Museum is located one mile from the CMSP. This museum
depicts the Cumberland Homesteads Community of the 1930’s
which helped to build the park along with the CCC and WPA
programs of that era.

The Reserve at Collins River

is offering unprecedented
opportunities for ownership in
our development at prices you will
not believe!
Many of us dream of living in a quiet, unhurried,
hospitable community. We crave the peaceful lifestyle enjoyed
by our ancestors. That lifestyle can be yours by becoming a
homeowner at The Reserve at Collins River. Our homesites are
situated on the flank of the gorgeous Harrison Ferry mountain,
lying along the banks of the gently flowing Collins River. More
than 450 acres of, virtually pristine Tennessee real estate have
been transformed into a challenging, championship golf course
that follows the contours of the original terrain and is ringed by
generously portioned homesites.
