The official logo typeface is Balloon Extra Bold. Use the official logotype supplied by Nickelodeon. Do not try to set the word (Nickelodeon" in Balloon Extra Bold yourself.

Balloon Extra Bold IS FOR LOGOTYPE USE ONLY. Do not set any other word in Balloon Extra Bold. When it appears outside the logo, the word (Nickelodeon" must be set in a typeface other than Balloon Extra Bold (as shown on the introductory page of this guidebook).

As a logotype, the word II Nickelodeon" must always be in white.

Never outline the word "Nickelodeon;"

Always use the full word "Nickelode o n " in the logo. The only two exceptions are the Nickelodeon on-air bug, in which the abbreviation H Nick" may be used, and the Nick Jr. logo (see pg.12).

The word "Nicke lo de on " must always be followed by an ® or a ™ (depending on usage - check with your Nickelodeon legal advisor). The size of these symbols should be as small as possible while always remaining legible.

Never outline the logo shape in any color (including white) .

You may use drop shadows. ----------------

Do not place any word other than II Nickelodeon in the logo shape.

We have tried to ensure that there are enough logos already in existence to complement both Nickelodeon's diversity of programming and its lines of business. Before creating a new logo, check the logo files that we have included on the CD-ROM in the back of this guide. If you still believe you need to create a new logo, then you must submit your design to your Logo Council member for approval.

Only a small amount of the logo can be disconnected from the main shape.

A logo can have a small amount of white detail.

The logotype can be slightly distorted to conform to the logo shape, e.g. to follow a curve or to show dimensionality.

The most successful logo shapes tend to be horizontal rather than vertical. The word "Nick e lo de o n " should fit comfortably into the shape.

n As proven through numerous applications by Nickelodeon's various lines of business, the logo's greatest strength is its diversity."
