Hopeully everyone has managed their way through meteorologicalroller coaster this year ... to say the least it has been interesting mixo hot/dry and hot/moist conditions throughout our region. Since ourindustry depends so much on the weather, adjustments o variousmagnitudes to short term or long term plans can be changed in amatter o one major weather event. Whether your operate a lawncare business, gol course, athletic eld, grounds manager or sodarm adjusting your agronomic, business or personnel practices arekey to your businesses success.OTF’s in season educational opportunities provides a great resourceor inormation to assist with your adjustments. Attending eventssuch as Research Field Day and Regional seminars not only allowsyou to see evidence rst hand, but also provides the opportunityto talk to the tur team one on one about any specic challengesyou may have. I you’re unable to attend any o the events, keep inmind you are only a nger tip away rom most o the inormationpresented at these educational sessions via the internet or otherorms o electronic media. OTF awards$10,000 in scholarship money annually to students throughout thestate. Based on the number o scholarship applications submittedthe past ew years, I am positive there are Turgrass Managementstudents who aren’t aware these monies are available.One nal note, please circle the date o October 1 and reserve it toplay in the 2007 OTF Scholarship and Research Gol Tournament atNCR Country Club’s esteemed South Course.
