Dear Michael,
At Education Questions yesterday you were asked on three occasions to explain the
continuing visits by your former Special Adviser, Dominic Cummings to your department,
including who he met, the purpose of the visits and for how long after his resignation he
continued to hold a departmental pass.
On all three occasions you chose to engage in parliamentary game-playing rather than to
answer perfectly straight forward questions from Members of Parliament. It is not for you to
decide what is or is not a legitimate question but rather to answer questions, where it is
possible to do so, in a straight forward and truthful manner. I ask that you do so now.
1. On how many occasions since his resignation has your former Special Adviser,
Dominic Cummings visited the DfE, with whom has he met, for what duration, on
what dates and for what purpose?
2. For how long after his resignation did Mr Cummings hold a departmental pass?
3. On the occasions he has visited the department without a departmental pass, has he
signed into the department and if so under what name?
4. Can you confirm whether or not on any of these visits he has met with you and
whether he continues to advise you on education matters despite his resignation?
5. Can you also explain what the procedures are for keeping records of visitors to the
department and why according to your Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State no
departmental record has been kept of any visits by Mr Cummings since his
resignation?

I look forward to your straightforward, prompt and complete response.
Yours,

Kevin Brennan MP
Shadow Schools Minister
