Misunderstood Chapter 6

After I said bye to Chris, I went inside my house. Dad was stillcurios about Chris and me. I ignored him and Derek. No one couldruin my perfect day. Three maybe four hours later, Chris called me.“Hello?” I said eagerly.“Hey, it’s me.” Chris said happily. I smiled to myself.“Hi.” I say shyly. I hear Chris clear his throat, he soundednervous.“Would you like to go out tonight?” I had to put my hand overmy mouth to keep me from screaming.“Well, would you?” I could hear a little girl talking from the otherline.“I’d love to, Chris,” I said, happily. My heart was jumping out of my chest.“Cool, I’ll, um; I’ll pick you up around six.” He said shakily.“Okay, see you then,” I giggled; he laughed said bye then hungup. After he hung up, I finally screamed. Dad and Derek bargethrough my door. “What happened?” They said urgently.

!” Dadand Derek had blank looks on their faces.“Aren’t you happy for me?” I asked them, almost hurt.“Of course we’re happy. We’re just getting used to the idea,that’s all.” Derek said quickly, covering for both of them. I ignoredthem, to happy to care.“Go. He’ll be here at six, and I need to get ready.” I shooed themout of my room. I locked my door behind them. I took a quickshower; I blow-dried my hair and made little curly ringlets at theends. My closet was messy, but I found something to wear; ablack halter dress with my red fish net tights. I pulled on my allblack chucks, I quickly put on my make up; the only change is Iwore red lipstick. When I came down stairs, Dad had a camera. Ihated pictures. Dad took a picture as I came down stairs.Chris was right on time. The door bell rang, and I bolted for thedoor. Chris looked

! He was wearing a black dinner jacket, of course, a red shirt with black dress pants. Man, hecleans up good. I smile at him and he smiles back at me.“Hi,” he said awkwardly.“Hi, come in. My Dad wants to meet you.” He nods, then steps inmy house. In the living room Dad and Chris finally meet.“Nice to finally meet you, Christopher.”“It’s Chris sir, and nice to meet you too.” I gulped.“Oh sorry, Chris. And please call me Zack.”“Yes, Zack.” They smiled at me, and I got self conscious. Dadhad to take pictures. He wasn’t making it better when he said,“Chris, put your arm around her waist. I shoot Dad a deadly glare.I blush as Chris puts his arm around my waist, to take more
 
pictures. After a few more pictures, Dad finally lets us go. We goton Chris’s bike, without saying anything.I quietly ask, “Where are we going?”“The movies.” I really didn’t care where we were going, as longas Chris was there.Chris bought us tickets to see

you know the one with Jason in it. For a person who’s all Goth, the movie scared me. I hidmy face from some parts. On one part when no one was gettingkilled, Chris held my hand in his. I looked at our hands together;this is how it should be. Just then, someone got killed again, itscared me which made me scream. Chris squeezed my handgently. I look over at him and smile. This could not get better. Themovie did not get any better, but I accidentally fell asleep, withmy head on Chris’s shoulder. Chris gently talked me awake.“Oh sorry,” I said as I lifted my head off his shoulder. He smiledgently at me.“It’s okay, it’s over anyway.” I felt really bad that I slept throughthe movie.“Oh,” I said kind of disappointed. We walked out of the theater tohis bike. When I got on, Chris asked me something, “You want toget a cup of hot chocolate?”“That would be nice,” I wrapped arms around him and held on.I sat there awkwardly in the booth by myself, waiting for Chris tocome back with our hot chocolate. While I was sitting there, I wasthinking am I really ready for a relationship like this with Chris. Ilike him I really like him. I just don’t want to get burned, like myDad did. The café was cold. I didn’t bring a coat, nice one. Iwrapped my arms around myself. Chris came back and sat by mein the booth. He saw the goose bumps on my arms; he slipped off his jacket and put it around my shoulders. I smiled and said,
