The Music Business Ain’t What It Seems

I was speaking with a friend in the music business and she was tellingme how she had a spiritual awakening. She mentioned how she had avery different outlook on life and the music business. She thenproceeded to tell me about a music business executive who had a realbad case of “keeping up with the Joneses.” This music business executive had a nice car, place to live, clothes andindustry peer admiration. These things are all good, except the musicbusiness taste-maker spent all his money on consumer goods thatwere non-cash producing nor asset building. To make things worse hehad one source of income, working for a record company.One day the music business (mogul in training) got the ax, 86d, thepink slip, sent on his way without a bucket of chicken, watch orpension. I’m willing to bet the former music business taste-maker hadnot read any of the Rich Dad Poor Dad Books, the Richest Man inBabylon, Think and Grow Rich or the
Word to the Wise, learn how money is generated in business in generaland the music business in particular.
