What is Σ Г λ?

Σ Г λ stands for a Greek letter Sigma Gamma Lambda which is an

International Collegiate Fraternity and Sorority. It is a college and
professional based organization with a lifelong brotherhood and
sisterhood, founded on March 1, 1962 at Holy Angels Academy in
Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur by Mr. Edgardo Consolacion, an
agriculturist and businessman by profession. It is now grown into a strong
and dynamic student movement, surviving on its own challenges and
obstacles in the past and foresees a brighter future.

Members are dignitary called as LAMBDANS.

The Birth

Like any other organizations, the Sigma Gamma Lambda International

Collegiate Fraternity and Sorority traced its humble beginning as a
barkadahan system. Mr. Edgardo Consolocion, 16 years old at that time-
young and visionary- together with his ten (10) other high school students
wanted their friendships and camaraderie lasted for a lifetime. And on
March 1, 1962 (Thursday) at Pagadian City, they forged their unity and
signaled the metamorphosis of their friendships along the Greek-letter in
the West into a lifetime brotherhood and sisterhood with dignitary name,
SIGMA GAMMA LAMBDA.

Holy Angels Academy in Pagadian City was the first mother based of the
organization, as Sigma Chapter. The esoteric rituals so the characteristics
of fraternities were completed.

On September 22, 1973, the founder brought in the organization at

Central Mindanao University in Musuan, Bukidnon and instituted the

Gamma Chapter. The constitution and by-laws were ratified. Motto, seal
and loyalty were adopted. Because of the solidarity and the solid and
massive existence of the Gamma Chapter, the domicile of the organization
was transferred to CMU.

A year later, the Lambda Chapter at Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan,

Cagayan de Oro City was established.

Through years, the organization is continually growing and developing and

is felt in the major colleges and universities in the Philippines.

If Sigma Gamma Lambda experiences a decline, it was just a stage in its

cyclical growth, part of an evolution to a higher organization. Todate, Mr.
Francisco S. Talle, a retired government official is the Supreme Grand
Marshall of the organization.

Objectives of the Organization

1. To promote lifetime brotherhood and sisterhood;

2. To promote the welfare of the school and community;
3. To develop the spirit of cooperation and mutual understanding;
4. To help one another.
