Annual General Meeting-2013


The Annual General Meeting (AGM) 2013 of BIIT was held on 19 April Saturday at 4.30 pm at the 1
st
floor of Mumataj Mahal Restaurent, Uttara, Dhaka. Janab Shah Abdul Hannan, President of BIIT,
presided over the meeting.
1. Recitation from the Holy Quran
The meeting commenced with the recitation from the Holy Quran by Janab Muhammad Amimul
Ahsan, Assistant Professor, Islamic Studies, CENURC, International Islamic University Chittagong.
2. Address of Welcome
Janab M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT at the very beginning expressed his gratefulness to
Allah (SWT) for making possible the AGM at the 1
st
floor of Mumataj Mahal Restaurent, Uttara,
Dhaka. He thanked the present members for their presence in the Meeting. He pointed out the focal
points of BIITs activities and expressed his aspiration for farther progress of BIIT.
3. Presentation of the Annual Activity Report 2013
Janab M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director of BIIT briefly presented the Annual Activity Report 2013
in the Meeting. He also highlighted recently published 18 textbooks, developing curriculum and
Islamic resources, seminars and conferences, BJIT & IJIT journals and chapter activities. He also
focussed on Knowledge & education to reform, Islamize the academicians/ Islamizer and creating an
enabling environment by BIIT to the audience.
4. Presentation of the Annual Financial Statements & Auditors Report 2013
Janab Prof. Dr. AKM Abdul Quader, Vice President (Finance) of BIIT presented the Annual Financial
Statement & Auditors Report for the year 2013 in the Meeting.
Presentation of the Annual Plan and Budget 2014
Janab M. Abdul Aziz, Executive Director, BIIT, presented the Annual Plan and Budget for the Year
2014 in the Meeting.
The president of BIIT requested the house to consider the Annual Financial Statements & Audits
Report-2013 and Annual Plan & Budget 2014 as read. The house accepts his proposal and took part
in discussion directly.
Discussion on the Reports, Plan & Budget Document
A good number of members took part in the discussion. The discussions were as follows:
Janab M Nurul Islam, former executive vice president, IBBL said that BIIT members who are
faculty can refer the publications in their classes. We can start Dhaka-chapter at Dhaka
university area and take a initiative plan for buying a flat.
Prof. M. K. Alam said that we can start the work for unity of knowledge in new way. For this
reason we want rigorous program on it.
Janab Md. Akther Hossain Majumder of Rajshahi University said that BIIT has done a unique
work by the recently published 18 Textbook. BIIT can use the term redesign instead of
reform.
Janab Sk. Enamul Hoque, journalist of a national daily said that AGM should be held in the
national press club and my proposal is to take a project in future for a daily newspaper.
Janab SM Rasheduzzaman said that BIIT can arrange a seminar to clarify gender Issue and
Islamofobia.
Prof. Abdus Shakur Khandaker of Dhaka University said that for publishing book, we have to
remember quality is prime. So my earnest request, BIIT should not give the priority on
quantity.
Janab Abdul Gafur Dewan, former librarian of Maymansing Agriculture University said that
BIIT need a professional Liberian. If BIIT want then I agree to help the library purpose one
day in a week.
Mrs. Afroza Bulbul of IIUC said that BIIT should take partnership program with universities to
conduct/supervise PhD. Candidate.
Md. Ashraful Islam of centre for national culture said that BIIT can take few projects at
national level. BIIT president requested him to prepare a list, so that BIIT can start the project.
Dr. Manzur-E-Elahi of national university said that BIIT is a research institute; we have a lot
of expertise and have to start work on it.
Mrs. Masuma Begum of IBBL said that BIIT should work at school & college level also.
Md. Faruq Hossain of Rajshahi University said that for the better publications, BIIT can get
reviewed the all books by the language experts.
Dr. Abul Hossain said that Training is a unique field where many opportunities have for BIIT.
Janab M Azizul Huq , Executive committee member of BIIT said that we are Islamist but
helpless because of many hindrances , So we have to emphasis on education at university level
by inputs from Islamic point of views .
After thorough discussion, the house accepted and approved the Activity Report, Financial Statement
& Auditors Report of 2013 and Plan & Budget of 2014.
7. Concluding Address by the President of BIIT
Janab Shah Abdul Hannan, President of BIIT thanked all. He said that sometimes we close minded.
We do not see our short comings and weaknesses on where we can improve. Therefore a committee
should look into our activities, where these require improvement, what new programs should be taken
up keeping in view our means and activity.
As there were no more points to discuss, the meeting ended with a vote of thanks to and from the chair
