Instructions: This assignment represents a significant part of your requirements in the course. This assignment
requires individual work only. Produce the completed assignment before the deadline in hard copy typed. Any
assignment submitted after the due date or copied will not be given marks.

For questions 1 & 2, you need to do a literature survey. Restrict your work to a short paragraph of 10 lines per
question (include at least 1 reference per question). If you answer more than 10 lines, marks will not be given
for anything more than the 10

line. For questions 3 & 4 you need to study geometric tolerances to complete.

Question 1
What is Hariharan algorithm for phase shifting, what problem does it solve when compared to others?

If you cut a small piece out a recorded hologram plate, and use this piece in the reconstruction, what would you
see and why?

In the following figure, add the largest
equal coordinate tolerances so that if two
parts are assemble with edges aligned, the
distance between their hole centers could
never be more that that shown as a note in
the figure.



Question 4
In the following figure, add the tolerance zone and limits of size
for both parts. You only need to draw the portion of the part that
has geometric tolerance specified. You need not reproduce the
whole part.
