Integrity. Precision.
Volants proprietary hydroforming technology produces this high quality,
high strength product. We have engineered and developed processes to
precision-form tubular steel into a variety of shapes, resulting in a smooth
unit-body shape perfectly suited to todays complex well designs. With its
record of no mechanical failures, it has become the product of choice for
operators drilling critical, challenging wells.

Problem. Solution.
Problem
Where: Side Track Window Exiting Applications
What: Multiple pay zones can be accessed from
a single wellbore. This involves milling windows
out through the casing. Pushing liner through these
windows is very hard on the centralizers, frequently
damaging them. This impedes liner installation and
spoils centralization.
Solution k R
Customer test programs have shown Volant
HydroFORM Centralizers to be the strongest and
most effective centralizers available for window
exiting applications. Attachment options are to
mechanically crimp directly to casing, place between
stop collars, or foat between couplings.
Problem
Where: Long Horizontal Wells
What: Installing the liner in long horizontal sections
requires pushing the pipe to overcome friction. When
multiple wells are drilled from a small surface location,
there is a need for curvature in both the vertical and
horizontal planes. This increases side loads and
results in friction, which always opposes the direction
of motion. This can result in the pipe buckling and
jamming in the hole.
Solution k
We position centralizers at engineered intervals to
manage the buckling. If you imagine a fexible steel
ruler supported at its midpoint, you understand the
general idea. Although other suppliers claim to offer
optimum centralizer placement, Volant brings superior
science to the problem, resulting in pipe that is less
susceptible to buckling-related problems.

Problem
Where: Steam Assisted Gravity Drainage
(SAGD) Wells
What: A poor seal between oil bearing sand and the
overlying rock formation allows steam to migrate up
the wellbore. Potential problems include groundwater
contamination and even steam to surface as pressure
builds up.
Solution R;
Our centralizers enable cement to do its job of
achieving hydraulic isolation.
Problem
Where: Tight Oil and Gas Wells
What: These wells are tight because hydrocarbons
are not able to fow through the rock to the wellbore
naturally. Fracturing creates channels that act as fow
paths to the wellbore. In order to fracture, fuid must be
pumped into specifc zones to overcome the strength
of the rock. A good seal along the wellbore is necessary
so the path of least resistance is into the reservoir,
not along the wellbore. There are two ways to seal
with rubber packers or cement. If the liner is not well
centralized a good seal is compromised using either
method. The result is missed pockets of oil and gas,
not only for the present but in the future. This greatly
impacts the cost of the natural resource for generations
to come.
Solution k R;=
We use centralizers to provide positive centralization
ensuring cement displaces the drilling mud and forms
a good seal. In the case of rubber packers, centralizers
prevent packer contact with the borehole, reducing the
possibility of damage and greatly increasing the chances
of achieving hydraulic isolation.
Problem
Where: High Temperature/High Pressure
(HTHP) Wells
What: Usually the deeper the well, the higher the fuid
pressure and temperature. High pressure will follow the
path of least resistance. Allowing hydrocarbons where
they dont belong can have serious consequences.
Solution ;R=
Our centralizers remain intact during installation
and withstand the side loads resulting from extreme
tension in deviated wells. This enables cement to
reliably displace the drilling mud and do its job of
creating a barrier to fow.
