Chapter 1
A frightful dream accompanied by a creepy person

Matt opened his eyes to the sound of voices. Creatures he couldnt identify stood in a circle
around a dark cavern. Chanting and laughing with pleasure as if theyd just won a glorious
victory.
He was being held over a frightfully hot blue fire as tall as the empire state building by a dark
figure thats features were hidden by the shadows. His beholder raised Matt higher into the air
and the crowd cheered. The fire rose a few inches reacting to the watchers mood. He began to
panic and started to cry, but the cry wasnt his own. It was younger and smaller. It was the cry
of a baby.
Suddenly his beholder let go. He was free falling for a few seconds before the flames engulfed
him and he was consumed. He sunk through the flames like it was thick, muddy water, and
drifted for a while. His air was cut off. He could feel the heat burning throughout his body. It
was soon too much to bear. Matt let out a scream and closed his eyes. The pain and heat
seemed to subside. The cries of joy from the creatures hed seen faded into the distance.

Matts eyes shot opened. He jerked himself out of his bed; ripping off his blankets he
stumbled to the floor. He gagged as he tried to breath. Beads of sweat dripped from his
forehead. He lay crumbled on the floor, gasping and giving all his strength just to stay alive.
After what seemed like forever the feeling of catching on fire lessened and he struggled to get
up.
Coughing and tripping as he walked, Matt finally reached the bathroom, connecting to his
room, and looked in the mirror. He looked horrible. His face and arms were as red as a tomato.
His eyes were glowing white in the darkness. His hand were burnt and blistered. His reflection
wasnt recognizable.
Matt freaked. He started to back up and fell into the bathtub and knocked his head on the
handle, rendering him unconscious. When he woke he had a headache and a stiff neck. He
climbed out of the tub he looked in the mirror again. His face was still red but the burns on his
hands were gone and his eyes were back to their normal blue color. He felt a cool breeze

coming from no wear in particular. It blew across his face. Instantly the heat and redness on his
face started too disappeared. He started to breathe easier. He felt refreshed.
He rubbed his sore head. Then mumbled something like ow. And walked over to the
window. A small layer of Snow clung to the streets. City lights glistened in the distances;
otherwise the night was pitch black.
He breathed in and sighed. Suddenly he felt like a rhino had sat on him. He grabbed the
curtains; steadying himself. His legs started shaking like tooth picks holding up a brick. Then he
collapsed on the wood floor.

Matt woke to his alarm clock beeping 6:30. Sleepily he turned off the alarm. He got up out of
his bed slowly. Every bone in his body ached.
He couldnt rap his mind around the strange dream he had. He thought it was so real while it
was happening. But now that he thought about it; it was totally a dream. But even as he told
himself that; something in his gut told him to keep the dream secret. And as he made his bed
the images of monsters and fire, flooded his head and he couldnt get them out.
He jumped as his Grandma knocked on the door and called to him sweetly, Time to getup
honey.

Matt got changed and walked into the kitchen. Grabbing a box of cereal, he sat down at the
table. He heard loud clamor coming from the stairs. And his mom walked out yelling into her
cell phone at some poor person.
I want that dress and I dont care if you have to rip it of some one. No, I dont want to wait
until a new shipment comes in, I want it now. Yes, Id like to talk to your manager.
Mom, wheres dad? Matt asked slowly.
Hes in the car, She replied; then brought her attention back to the phone. Hello. Is this the
manager? Yes. One of your stupid workers wont sell me a dress. NO! IM NOT going to wait
until a new one comes in. I want it today so I can wear it at a party tonight. Excuse me? Do you
know who I am?
His dad walked up the stairs, rolling his eyes, while carrying shopping bags. He looked wiped
out.

He dropped the bags on the counter with a sigh of relief. He looked at Matt and smiled; and
started to say something in his southern accent, No more Black Friday shopping till three
hundred and sixty five more days. And heaven help me when it returns,
Matt couldnt help but smile. Every year his mom would drag his dad through stores until he
practically collapsed.
Whatre you doing home so early? He asked.
Oh, just dropping off some shopping bags; since the cars so stuffed. Your mother might want
to shop some more, but Im not going back to that prison. Shell just have to go by herself.
They heard a frustrated scream in another room and a phone getting thrown at the ground.

The rest of Matts day mostly consisted of him watching TV and eating leftover Turkey dinner.
As he was watching one of his favorite TV shows, Sherlock, a chill ran through his body as he
once again remembered his dream. He was still puzzled about it when he decided to take a cold
shower to refresh his mind.
It was six oclock when he got out. He dressed in a simple T-shirt and shorts. As he walked out
of the bathroom, he noticed his brother dressed in a tie and dress shirt.
Whats the occasion? Matt asked.
The school dance. He said while trying to tie his tie.
Matts heart raced, The dance! How could I have forgotten?
Honestly, his brother replied, Im not surprised. Dances have never been that important to
you anyway. You probably dont even have a date.
Well this one is, Michel, He said quickly, Because I do have a date. Then He ran into his
room and changed.

Matts dad had a variety of cars to choose from; owning an oil company and all. But Matt
decided to choose his favorite car: a Mercedes Benz. It seemed perfectly fit for this occasion.

As he drove, the sun slowly set behind him. Mixing purple and pink with blue and red streaks
across the sky. Hed just stopped at a red light and gazed at the beautiful seen when something
flying in the sky caught his eye.
It was too big to be a bird, and too small for a plane flying so low. He squinted to see more
clearly. He saw two weird shaped circles jutting out of what he assumed was the front of the
flying object. The tail end of it swayed back and forth as if it really was a tail. But before he
could even guess what it was; it disappeared behind a dark cloud.
His attention was brought back to the road as the traffic light turned green.

Matt stopped at the bottom of a driveway, waiting for his date, Grace. He looked in the
rearview mirror and fixed his hair. He exhaled loudly. His hands shook as he gripped the
steering wheel. He didnt know why he was nervous. Him and Grace had been friends for years.
And besides he didnt even like her. The only reason he was taking her to the dance was
because hed promised her. And plus he knew she liked him and hed felt guilty and asked to go
to the dance with him. But now that hed done it he felt even guiltier, since he didnt feel that
way about her. But she was a sweat girl, very shy, and beautiful. He could see himself one day
feeling the way she did about him about her, but not right now. The time wasnt right.
His thoughts were interrupted by the sound of a door opening and closing. Matt looked up
quickly. Walking down the paved driveway was the most beautiful thing hed ever seen. Grace
seemed to glide with every step. She was dressed in a dark green over coat. Underneath it was
a light green sleeveless dress that expanded into a hoop skirt. Her high heeled shoes were
covered by the dress which caused only the tip of them to show. Her long brown hair was
braided all the way down her back. On top of her head was a small tiara. But the one thing Matt
was drawn to the most was her sweat, quiet smile.
She waited for outside, as he pressed the button to automatically open the door. As she sat
down; her dress blocked most of the window.
Hey, Matt jumped as she spoke to him, You excited?
Me? Matt replied, Yay. Totally. Um . . . He struggled for words. Youre dressed up
fancy.
Thanks, she looked down at herself. I figured this would be the only time you asked me
out. So I went all out.
Matt felt bad, Grace, I-,

Its ok, Matt, she looked away, I know you dont like me; its . . . its all right, She said the
last part a little reluctantly.
Matt started to pull out of the driveway, Its not that I dont like you; youve been one of my
closest friends for years, He swallowed hard, I could even see you and me together one day.
I . . . I just; Im not ready for a relationship right now. I want to have my own business, and not
rely on my fathers business. I want to establish a future for myself, He forced himself to look
at her. Im sorry.
She turned and looked him right in the eye, You dont have to apologies, she murmured.
They road in awkward silence for a few miles. Matt couldnt bring himself to look at her.
Well, this is a way to start our first date, he thought to himself, by breaking up. Not that they
were ever together.
Suddenly a man appeared in the middle of the road. He looked like a homeless man, with
holes in his pants and coffee stains all over his shirt. Matt swerved to avoid him. Grace
screamed. The man disappeared before Matt hit him.
What the heck was that! Matt yelled. He looked behind him. No one was there. Wait . . .
there was someone or . . . something. He looked closer. It was that man again.
Is he . . . chasing us? Grace asked. Matt looked in the rearview mirror once more. Sure
enough the man was running after the car.
Should we stop for him? Grace looked concerned.
Matt looked at her, I dont know about you, but hes creepy.
So?
He could try to rob us by catching us off guard.
Dont you think thats a bit extreme?
Actually, I dont. It pays to be cautious.
Wait a second. Grace looked behind them again. Hes gaining on us.
What thats impossible! Were going sixty miles per hour.
Then I agree with you he is creepy.
The man was almost in pace with the car when Grace yelled, Step on it!

Chapter 2
An unexpected explosion, provided
By unexpected company

Matt sped full ahead. No matter where he turned or how fast he drove; he couldnt lose his
pursuer. As the man got closer he noticed more details about him. The scar across his left eye
that ran all the way down his chin. The limp in his leg (Though he seemed to run quiet fine).
Matt swerved around a corner. And the man followed.
We got to lose him! Grace gripped the seat.
No Really. Matt replied.
He was all ready going eighty miles per hour. Passing cars and running traffic lights. Matt was
surprised he wasnt being chased by cops yet.
Then suddenly a black Ferrari pulled in behind them, and hit their consistent follower. Grace
screamed. But the man got up again. He turned around and started to lift the car. And to Matts
surprised the car elevated up. Matt found himself opened mouthed. The passengers scrambled
out of the car as the man chucked the Ferrari across the streets. The man turned his attention
back on him and Grace. He started to run again, but was hit in the back of the head by. . . Was
that red dust?
Regardless it seemed to get the guys attention. He yelled and turned around to where the
passengers stood. There was a boy and a girl with angry looks on the faces. In the boys hand
was a mini hurricane of red dust. He through another ball of it at the dudes head.
Matt couldnt believe his eyes. These people were crazy.
What are you doing? Grace was looking at him clearly puzzled. He wondered what she was
looking at. Then he noticed hed stopped the car. This was likely their only chance theyd get to
lose their stalker.

Right. he said at last and put his foot on the gas. But still he couldnt believe his eyes. He
had to be losing his mind. That was it. He was delusional. Nobody could through a hurricane of
red dust from the palm of their hand. Matt toke one more glimpse behind him. And sure
enough the homeless dude and the boy with the dust were still there.
Grace, he said slowly, you did see the weird guy chasing us, right?
Grace looked at him as if to say duh.
Okay then, he replied, did you see the other weird guy that was throwing hurricanes at the
other weird guys head?
Matt, what are talking about?
I know my fraise of words was kind of confusing-
No I mean I dont what youre taking about. There was no other guy.
Yes there was. There was a guy and a girl that got out of the car that cashed.
Nobody got out of the car. The man that was chasing us just stood there yelling at it. And
besides you must be seeing things if you so somebody throwing hurricanes at him.She said
with almost a laugh.
Ok. Matt thought. Shes right. Im seeing things. But yet he still had a sense he wasnt imaging
it. He recognized it to be the same feeling he got when he thought about his dreams. They sat
in silence for a few minutes.
So do you still want to go to the dance? Matt asked breaking the silence.
Yeah! Someone would have to kill me before there was a chance that I wouldnt go.
Lets hope that doesnt happen.
They finally got to the dance. They walked through the open doors of the school and entered
the Jim. Matt spotted one of his friends, over in the corner of the room, talking to some girl.
Andrew! he called.
Andrew looked up and smiled. He waved Matt over to him.
Instead of walking over Matt ran. Andrew, he said quickly, Youll never believe what just
happened to me and Grace.

Grace?Andrew asked, a little surprised, I guess its official now. Weve all been waiting for
you guys to get together. I mean you guys have been friends for like what, twelve years?
Though I didnt think Grace was your type. I thought you liked back haired and skinny, not that
Grace isnt pretty-
What? No. Where not together! I just promised her Id take her to this dance. Thats all!
Ok, whatever you say, Andrew replied, though he sounded a little disappointed.

He looked down and saw who was holding him. The hideous monster was terrifying. Its face
was covered with fish scales. His eyes were luminous, glowing pure white in the darkness. Its
mouth was a beak. His diamond armor reflected the fire light. Barely covering his fuzzy bear
legs and chicken feet.

Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious

The Chimera was a creature born from the monsters Typhon and Echidna in Greek mythology. It had the
head and body of a lion, head of a goat, head of a dragon, tail of a serpent, wings to fly, and had the
ability to spit fire. The Chimera was often a sign of shifts in nature, including weather changes and
volcanic eruptions.
