4 Corrective maintenance activity
This part describes the corrective maintenance activity applicable to the 9326 d2U rack.
Corrective maintenance
The network maintenance is based on the supervision of the network, by using the OAM graphical
interface. For more information, refer to Alcatel-Lucent 9353 Management System - User Guide
(NN-20500-032).
It is also based on the identification and replacement of faulty items of equipment, using the alarms.
The process is divided into the following two steps:
locating and identifying the faulty items of equipment, by using the information provided in
Alcatel-Lucent 9300 W-CDMA Product Family - Node B Alarms Reference Guide
(NN-20500-018).

Description of a replacement procedure
A replacement procedure is divided into the following parts:
the title
the main body with the following information:
the intervention time
the tools required
the impact of the procedure, if necessary
the step-by-step actions of the procedure
One or more figures are provided to help you execute the actions. They show the FRU
schematically and its location in the cabinet.
Intervention restrictions
There may be a lapse of time between the identification of the alarm at the Access OAM Graphic
User Interface (GUI) and the time you arrive at the site.
You must be synchronized with the access network controller or system administrator (by telephone)
before an on-site intervention, in the following cases:
isolating procedures
completion of an on-site intervention
return to service procedure
General personnel safety instructions
The personnel must obey the safety instructions specific to the installation site:
rules concerning the premises (see instructions posted on site or in the building)
rules linked to general personnel safety instructions
The personnel working on the cabinet must be authorized to work according to security standards.

5 9326 d2U introduction
The 9326 d2U is a digital rack designed to be connected to one of the following products via optical
fiber links:
9341 RRH20-21
9341 RRH40
9332 rCompact OD
The Alcatel-Lucent Remote Radio solution improves flexibility for deploying mobile broadband Node
Bs in space-constrained locations. It is particularly suited to macro-cellular application in dense
areas, where site acquisition is difficult, and on sites where installation constraints prevent the use of
legacy Node Bs.
Compared to legacy Node B site deployment, the Remote Radio solution provides the following
benefits:
reduced volume, weight, footprint, acoustic noise, and power consumption
reduced cost of feeder paths from the Node B to the antenna
increased RF power per carrier at the antenna feeder
reduced radio loss with use of the remote RF block concept, which eliminates the distance
between the radio amplifier and the antenna
The Remote Radio solution provides for the UMTS system:
the means of communication between a User Equipment (UE) and a network using Transport
Channels
physical layer channels, which are necessary to synchronize the downlink and perform cell
selection/reselection and handover preparation
measurement information to the UMTS RNC for radio resource management (handover, power
control)
The 9326 d2U provides up to eight E1/T1 with Inversion Multiplexing ATM (IMA) or Drop-and-Insert
capability (fractional E1/T1). The 9326 d2U also supports multi-PCM without IMA.
The 9326 d2U delivers high UMTS radio performances and supports the enhanced High Speed
Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) and High Speed Uplink Packet Access (HSUPA) solutions
through easy software upgrade.
The Alcatel-Lucent 9326 d2U solution is compliant with the Common Protocol Radio Interface
(CPRI).

9326 d2U enclosure
The 9326 d2U provides the operators with a suited solution whatever the site constraints are.
The 9326 d2U can be installed in a standalone indoor mode or in the user space of an existing indoor
or outdoor Node B cabinet.
The 9326 d2U is factory-equipped with a specific shielded faceplate.
The following figure shows an outside view of the 9326 d2U.
