    WantedtosayhowmuchIveenjoyedplayingStarcraftwithyouguysduringthelastfew
    months.Ihungontothegamethinkingthatitmightcomeinhandy,butIneverguessedthat
    yearslaterIdbeversingmythirteenyearolddaughterorelevenyearoldson.
    IboughtStarcraftduringaperiodinmylifewhenIactuallyhadtheextratimetoplayvideo
    games.Ihadjustgraduatedcollege,butknewyourmom,sothiswouldhavebeenaround1997
    or98.Atthetime,Iwasworkingatmyveryfirstjoboutofcollege,HomeTownOnline.Idworkon
    websitesandanswerthephonesduringtheday,thenhangoutinmybedroomupinmyparents
    housefightingbattlesagainsttheZergandtheProtoss.
    Ibecamehookedonwarstrategyvideogameswhenmycollegeroommate,afterwatchingmy
    roommate,Ed,playWarcraft.Thiswasbasicallythesamething,onlywithhumansfighting
    againsttrollsandorcs.ItusedtodriveEdnutswatchingmetrytoplay,becauseIdgetso
    wrappedupintobuildingvillagesandcollectingresourcesthatIdalmostforgettoactuallyfight
    anybody.IwasthesamewaywithStarcraft.
    IdidplayStarcraftagainstyourmomonce,remotely.Iwasastonishedbyhowfastthegaming
    speedwas,andbackthenIconnectedviaamodem.ImprettysurethatIwon.
    Wetakealotoftodaystechnologyforgranted.BackwhenStarcraftwasreleased,theonly
    wayyoucouldholdanysortoftournamentinthesameroomisifyouhadanetworksetup,
    cables,andotherequipment.Comparethattooursetuprightinthediningroomwithtwo
    laptopsconnectedtoeachotherthroughwifi.
    Isloweddownonmyvideogameplayingaround2000afterwehadgottenmarriedandmoved
    intoourapartmentinHaslett.Ibeganrealizingthathoursdevotedtoplayingavideogamereally
    didntamounttomuch.Therewerewaymoreproductivewaystospendmytime.Forme,that
    wasapointwhereIsetasidethevideogameandtriedtowritemore.
    But,IvevaluedthetimethatIvespentplayingagainstyoubecauseitwastimespentwithyou.It
    hasalsobeenexcitingsharingalittlebitofmypastwithyou.
