Story 11: Elijah’s Miracles1 Kings 17
 Elijah Proclaims a Drought  Elijah Raises the Widow's Son
1
And Elijah the Tishbite, - said to Ahab, "As the LORD God of Israellives, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years,except at my word."لَو َ  ّط َ ن ُك ُي َ لَ ه ُ إِ ،ه ُم َام َأَ ت ُف ْق َو َ ذ ِ   َئ ِر َس ْإِ ه ُإِ ب ر  َُ  ّح َ» :ب َآخ ْَ..   ِش ْ  ا  ِيإِ  َاق َو َ .« ِ ْق َ د َ ْعِ لإِ  َ ِ ِذ ِ  ِ ر ٌ َم َ

 َ ْ َ ه ْج ِ و َ ا َُ  ْم ِ  ْ ِ َ ْ» : ًئ ِاق َ ه ُ َ ب ر  ُ َ َ ن َا َو َ ،ن  ُ ْُ  ُ ِا َم ُ  َُ ذ ِ  ث َير ِ َ ر ِ ْ َ د َ ْعِ  ْ ِ َخ ْو َ ، ِر ِش ْ َ ْ

ن َا َر ْغ ِ ْ  ُر ْم َأَ د ْق َو َ .ر ِ ْ   َم ِ ب َر َش ْ َ َ  َا َُ  َ َ ُ َ ن ْأَ». ر ِ ْ   َم ِ ب ُر َش ْي َ ن َا َو َ ،ءًا َم َ  ٍ ْ َو َ ز ٍ ْ ُ ِو َ ،اح ًا َص َ  ٍ ْ َو َ ز ٍ ْ ُ ِ ه ِ ْ َإِ  ِ ْ َ ن ُا َر ْغ ِ ْ ت ِ َا َو َ.

Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,

"Get away from hereand turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into theJordan.
4
And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I havecommanded the ravens to feed you there."
5
So he went and did according tothe word of the LORD, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, whichflows into the Jordan.

The ravens brought him bread and meat in themorning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from thebrook 
.
7
And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, becausethere had been no rain in the land.
 Elijah and the Widow
8
Then the word of the LORD came to him, saying,
9
"Arise, go toZarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there.
See, I havecommanded a widow there to provide for you."
 
10
So he arose and wentto Zarephath. And when he came to the gate of the city, indeed a widow

was there gathering sticks. And he called to her and said, "Please bring mea little water in a cup, that I may drink."
11
And as she was going to get it, hecalled to her and said, "Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand."
12
So she said, "As the LORD your God lives, I do not have bread, only ahandful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering acouple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, thatwe may eat it, and die."
13
And Elijah said to her, "
Do not fear; go and do as you have said, butmake me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterwardmake some for yourself and your son.
14
For thus says the LORD God of Israel: "The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oilrun dry, until the day the LORD sends rain on the earth."'

لًو أَ ةًر َغ ِص َ  ًك َ ْ َ ا َ ْم ِ  ِ  ِ َعْ  ِك ِو َ ، ِ ِ ْ َ َ  ِ َعْو َ  ِخ ُ ْ . ِا َ َ لَ» :ا  ِيإِ ا َ َ  َا َ َ .ر ًخ ِأَ  ِ ِ ْلو َ  ِ َ  ِ َعْ   ُ ،  َإِ ا َ ِ  ِر ُخ ْو َ

 ِق ِد   َ  ُ ن إِ : َئ ِر َس ْإِ ه ُإِ ب ر  َاق َ ذ َك َ ه ُ َ ض ِ ْَ ه ِ ْو َ ى َعَ ر ً َم َ ب ر  ِ ْي ُ ه ِ ِ ذ ِ   ِ ْ َ ْ ى َإِ ، ُ ُ ْي َ لَ ت ِي ْز  َ ُو َ ،ُر ُف ْي َ لَ».

So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and heand her household ate for many days.
16
The bin of flour was not used up,nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the LORD which Hespoke by Elijah.
 Elijah Revives the Widow's Son
17
Now it happened after these things that the son of the woman who ownedthe house became sick. And his sickness was so serious that there was no breath left in him.
18
So she said to Elijah, "What have I to do with you, Oman of God? Have you come to me to bring my sin to remembrance, and tokill my son?"
19
And he said to her, "Give me your son." So he took him out of her armsand carried him to the upper room where he was staying, and laid him on
2
 
his own bed.
 
20
Then he cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD myGod, have You also brought tragedy on the widow with whom I lodge,by killing her son?"
21
And he stretched himself out on the child threetimes, and cried out to the LORD and said, "O LORD my God, I pray,let this child's soul come back to him."
22
Then the LORD heard thevoice of Elijah
; and the soul of the child came back to him, and he revived.

 َ ْس َأَ د ْق َ اَد َ ْعِ  ٌ ِا َ ا َأَ  ِ   ِ َم َ ْَى َإِ ا ًي ْأَأَ ، ِإِ ب ر ا َي أَ» : َاق َو َ ب ر ى َإِ َر َص َو َ  ُف ْ َ  ْر ْ َ ِ ، ِإِ ب  َ اي َ» : َاق َو َ ب ر ى َإِ َر َص َو َ ، ٍر م َ  َ َ َ د ِ َ َ ْ ى َعَ  َد  َ َ َ «؟ا َ َ ْ  َ ِ َام َ ِ ِ .«ه ِ ِ ْ َ ى َإِ د ِ َ َ ْ ذ َ

 َا َ َ ه ِ ِ ْ َ ى َإِ د ِ َ َ ْ  ُف ْ َ ت ْ َ َر َ َ ،ا  ِيإِ  ِ ْ َ ِ ب ر  َ ِ َ َ .

And Elijah took the child and brought him down from the upper roominto the house, and gave him to his mother. And Elijah said, "See, your sonlives!"
24
Then the woman said to Elijah, "Now by this I know that you are a manof God, and that the word of the LORD in your mouth is the truth."

 Elijah's Message to Ahab
The Contest on Mount Carmel

And it came to pass after many days that the word of the LORD came toElijah, in the third year, saying, "Go, present yourself to Ahab, and I willsend rain on the earth."

So Elijah went to present himself to Ahab; and there was a severe faminein Samaria.

Then it happened, when Ahab saw Elijah, that Ahab said to him, "
Is thatyou, O troubler of Israel?"
18
And he answered, "I have not troubled Israel, but you and your father'shouse have, in that you have forsaken the commandments of the LORD andhave followed the Baals.

 Now therefore, send and gather all Israel to me
on Mount Carmel, the four hundred and fifty prophets of Baal, and
