Basic Egg Limpia


NOTE: No matter how basic the spiritual act performed by a Curandera, always take
protection. Protecting yourself is the most important step you can take in doing
any kind of spiritual work. Without the proper protection you can pick up all
kinds of health issues and bad luck, not to mention evil spirits that linger in your
home and with your family.

First you will want to have protection for yourself. This can be anything that you
consider sacred, holy and protective (rosary, charm, necklace, crucifix, family
heirloom, or any other object)

Protection

I always wear one of those beaded belts worn by the Catholic priests during mass for protection
when performing cleanings. I wear this around my waist. I also wear a rosary and hold a
particular crucifix used by my grandmother, who was a curandera, and passed down to me. Also
I may wear or carry particular gemstones in my pocket that have natural protective abilities. All
of these items are blessed by a priest through the church.


Preparation

I then cleanse the space with either a spiritual water or smoke before I begin and after I finish.
Sometimes I use sage, sometimes a spiritual hyssop mixture that I prepare, sometimes rue, or
sometimes church incense depending on what I have on hand and the circumstances involved.

In addition, before I do any type of spiritual work, I light a candle to J esus, Guadalupe, St.
Michael, San Cipriano and to all my deceased relatives who practiced curanderismo and say
prayers to all of them. I ask for protection, guidance, wisdom, knowledge and strength. I
sandwich my picture between each of their images and place it under their candles.

I also call upon the help of several folk saints that I like to work withNino Fidencio, Don
Pedrito, Santa Teresita de Cabora and J ose Gregorio. I ask them to work through my body so
that they will heal the client through me, using my hands.

I then pray to our heavenly father for ability, because without him nothing is possible. It is also
good to have a picture of St. Peter near you when doing a limpia because he is very protective of
spiritual healers who are working in J esus name for the good of humanity.





For the Basic Limpia

Get a small glass of tap water. This water must be in a clear glass or jar, do not use any kind of
plastic or metal. It is best if the jar does not have any designs or markings on it or it could
interfere with the reading of the egg later on. It makes it easier to see the egg if there is no
interference to your vision.

You are going to use a regular raw egg. For the basic limpia you can use a white store bought
egg or a brown farm egg. When it comes to the egg, it is better to use an egg at room temperature
rather than a cold one. The cold eggs work for absorbing bad energies from a person but if the
egg is at room temperature it is less likely to shock your client with its coldness. Also over the
years I have found that the egg at room temperature gives a much better reading and better
formations. It will show more signs than when it is cold.

Some people like to sweep the aura with the egg, never coming in contact with the persons
body. I personally prefer to make contact with the person and the egg. I feel that the egg actually
touching the patients skin is much more effective in removing the bad stuff from the body or
whatever the person harbors. It then gives more formations when you break it into the water.

When you begin you can recite the Creed. This is a basic yet effective prayer that is used in
many areas of curanderismo, not just a limpia. Later when you get more comfortable with doing
a limpia on a person you can use other prayers, but for starters recite the Creed.


Beginning

Begin by making the sign of the cross on the top of the persons head (where the soft spot of a
baby is). Begin your prayer at that point. You are in front of the person. They are without
shoes, jewelry, glasses, etc.

The way I do it is to make downward sweeping motions with the egg, touching the patients skin
with every sweep of the egg. Move the egg downward over the body, never upwards. You will
want to work from the top to the bottom of the body.

The only areas that are important to make the sign of the cross are the major points of the body:
top of the head, back of the neck, the chest, center of the back, the two palms and both soles of
the feet.

Next after you have swept the egg all over the head in downward motions make a bunch of little
crosses across the back of the neck, starting from one side to the other.

Rub the egg in the sign of the cross on the center of the chest working to the back. Make a large
cross on the center of the back and (in downwards motionseverything is in downward motions
except for the sign of the cross). Rub the entire back with the egg, working to the legs. Rub the
legs, front and back. When you get to the feet you will want to make a cross on each of the
soles. You will have to have them balance on each foot in turn and show their soles.
Finishing

Once you have covered the entire body with the egg, continue the prayer until you are finished.
You can then repeat the prayer and go over the body again with the egg just to make sure the
entire body has been touched by the egg.

When you are sure the entire body has been covered then you gently break the egg into the glass
of water and read the signs. Eggs naturally absorb anything in the body that shouldnt be there.
You can use this egg method on people (adults or children) and animals.

When you have become comfortable with this method of cleaning, you will be able to add or
change this technique as you see fit. There is no ONE way of performing a cleaning and you
will know which way is best for you as you gain energy.

Make sure you dispose of the egg appropriately as you do not want to harbor the negative
energies from it. It is best to take it out of your house or property.
