Wall-EWeek 3
Revelation 21:1-5
1
Then I saw "a new heaven and a new earth,"
for the first heaven and the firstearth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea.
2
I saw the Holy City, thenew Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifullydressed for her husband.
3
And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Look!God's dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They willbe his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God.
4
'He will wipeevery tear from their eyes. There will be no more death'
or mourning or crying orpain, for the old order of things has passed away."
5
He who was seated on the throne said, "I am making everything new!" Then hesaid, "Write this down, for these words are trustworthy and true."
Mixer:1.) What was the best and worst part of the movie for you?Going Deeper:1.) Would you agree or disagree with this statement, “Wall-E isa movie that speaks a lot of truth”? As a group identify fivethings that are “true”.
(If you’re still wondering what “true” means,I’m asking them to identify some of things in the film that, when theysaw it, they said – “Yes! That is
so
how it is.” Does that make sense? If not ask me.)
2.) Is Wall-E and “pro-people” movie, meaning it believes inpeople, or an “anti-people” movie, meaning it has little faithun humanity? What about the earth?
I (Dixon) think Wall is a “pro-people” movie. The filmmaker’s issue astrong indictment of bad human behavior, but they believe that peoplecan change and that our created purpose is about far more thandystopian, high tech leisure. These sentiments are profoundlyChristian! The way the film recognizes the goodness and potential forgoodness of its human characters is a very Biblical idea.
What are 3 or 4 ways Wall-E is positive toward people? Whatabout the earth? What is the difference between surviving andliving?3.) Where does the film contend that people belong? (
The earth– it’s our home says the captain)
Reflecting on the Revelation textthis morning consider the question, “Where do people belong?Where is our home?”
(Long and short of it is we belong here on the earth. Our created
