The promise of the messiah came at the beginning (Genesis 3:14-15)14
Then the L
ORD
God said to the serpent,³Because you have done this, you are cursedmore than all animals, domestic and wild.You will crawl on your belly,groveling in the dust as long as you live.

And I will cause hostility between you and the woman,and between your offspring and her offspring.He will strike
 
your head,and you will strike his heel.´
The Messiah will be A prophet like Moses.
(Deuteronomy 18:18-19)

I will raise up a prophet like you from among their fellow Israelites. I willput my words in his mouth, and he will tell the people everything Icommand him.
19
I will personally deal with anyone who will not listen tothe messages the prophet proclaims on my behalf.
This Messiah will be the Son of God (
Psalm 2:6-7)

For the Lord declares, ³I have placed my chosen king on the thronein Jerusalem, on my holy mountain.´

ORD
said to me, µYou are my son.Today I have become your Father.
 
 
He would be a descendant of Abraham
(Genesis 12:1-3)

ORD
had said to Abram, ³Leave your native country, your relatives,and your father¶s family, and go to the land that I will show you.

I willmake you into a great nation. I will bless you and make you famous, andyou will be a blessing to others.

I will bless those who bless you andcurse those who treat you with contempt. All the families on earth will beblessed through you.´
He would be a descendant of Abraham's son, Isaac
.
 He would be a descendant of Isaac's son, Jacob
, (Gen. 35:10-12)

God appeared to Jacob saying, ³Your name is Jacob, but you will not becalled Jacob any longer. From now on your name will be Israel.´

So Godrenamed him Israel.

Then God said, ³I am El-Shaddai²µGod Almighty.¶ Be fruitful andmultiply. You will become a great nation, even many nations. Kings will beamong your descendants!

And I will give you the land I once gave to Abraham and Isaac. Yes, I will give it to you and your descendants after you.´
He would be a descendant of the Tribe of Judah (
Genesis 49:10)

 He would be of the house of David
(Isaiah 11:1-5)

Out of the stump of David¶s family

And the Spirit of the L
ORD
will rest on him²the Spirit of wisdom and understanding,the Spirit of counsel and might,the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the L

He will delight in obeying the L
ORD
.He will not judge by appearancenor make a decision based on hearsay.

He will give justice to the poor and make fair decisions for the exploited.The earth will shake at the force of his word,and one breath from his mouth will destroy the wicked.
 He will be born in a small city called Bethlehem
,(Micah 5:2).But you, O Bethlehem,are only a small village among all the people of Judah.Yet a ruler of Israel will come from you,one whose origins are from the distant past.
He Will be born of a Virgin (Isa. 7:14)14
All right then, the Lord himself will give you the sign. Look! The virgin willconceive a child! She will give birth to a son and will call him Immanuel(which means µGod is with us¶).
Over 700 years later«An angel appeared to Mary Saying«(Luke1:28-33)
³Greetings, favored woman! The Lord is with you!

Confused and disturbed, Mary tried to think what the angel couldmean.
