Hector Ramirez was born on April 3, 1955 in El Seibo, Dominican Republic and came to the Bronx in 1995, wherehe has lived, worked and raised his family. A passionate community activist, Ramirez started his public service at ayoung age in the Dominican Republic, as part of the student movement, charitable organizations and later as aprofessional accountant, heading the Ethics Committee for the National Dominican Accountants Association.Over the past 15 years, Ramirez has expanded his political involvement in The Bronx to reflect his passion for community service, working in partnership with grassroots organizations and elected officials to demand more livingwage jobs, health care, education and affordable housing to one of the poorest areas in the nation.In 2002, Ramirez was elected to the 86

Assembly as District Leader where he has been re-elected three times. Asdistrict Leader, Ramirez has served a densely populated area encompassing University Heights, Tremont, and theMorris Heights section of the Bronx, as a non-paid liaison for the community to government agencies, elected andDemocratic Party officials and community organizations. His hard work has earned Ramirez a reputation as anhonest and responsible leader.District Leader Hector Ramirez is currently a member of the Executive Board of the Bronx Democratic Party andserved as Vice Chairman of the Department of Youth and Community Development Neighborhood Advisory BoardNo. 5.Ramirez earned his BA in accounting from the O&M University in 1985, in the Dominican Republic and a Master’sdegree in business administration from Monroe College, in New York. As a result of his own experience incommunity involvement, District Leader Hector Ramirez has been an inspiration to the minority communities heserves. His example is one of empowerment in The Bronx, as he opens the doors to new generations of activists inthe struggle for justice and equity in issues ranging from domestic violence to the protection and expansion of smallbusinesses. Ramirez is also committed to fighting for minority, and immigrant, civil and economic rights. He hasbeen actively involved in fighting street crime and gang violence in cooperation with the community and localauthorities.Why is Honorable Hector Ramirez running for the State Assembly District 86? Because currently the district lack of effective experienced, compassionate, involved, transparent and hands on leadership. He will bring integrity,honesty and responsibility the people of our district need in Albany.Through his work in the community, Hector Ramirez has seen first hand the crucial needs surrounding theneighborhoods of University Heights, Tremont, Morris Heights, and Fordham.
