Pa\u00edses de grande tradi\u00e7\u00e3o nas olimp\u00edadas de Matem\u00e1tica t\u00eam o seu excelente rendimento em muito baseado na exist\u00eancia de revistas de divulga\u00e7\u00e3o para estudantes pr\u00e9-universit\u00e1rios. Apenas citando alguns exemplos, a h\u00fangara K\u00f6MaL, a russa (agora tamb\u00e9m americana) Kvant (Quantum), a romena Gazeta Matematica e a canadense (lida por alguns, poucos, brasileiros) Crux Mathematicorum desenvolvem em seus pa\u00edses o ambiente ideal para o aparecimento e desenvolvimento de jovens talentosos. N\u00f3s queremos que a

Eureka! tenha o mesmo sucesso que essas revistas.

Para isso estamos tentando trazer artigos cada vez mais interessantes e elucidativos, e problemas cada vez mais bonitos e desafiantes para todos os leitores daEure k a! (inclusive os dos N\u00edveis 1 e 2), por\u00e9m tal sucesso n\u00e3o depende exclusivamente de n\u00f3s. \u00c9 fundamental a participa\u00e7\u00e3o (muito) ativa de todos os leitores. Ficamos bastante contentes com a repercuss\u00e3o da se\u00e7\u00e3o "Olimp\u00edadas ao Redor do Mundo", com v\u00e1rios leitores enviando resolu\u00e7\u00f5es dos problemas propostos. Mas queremos que todas as outras se\u00e7\u00f5es e artigos tenham a mesma repercuss\u00e3o. Por exemplo, v\u00e1rios artigos trazem problemas propostos por\u00e9m raramente recebemos resolu\u00e7\u00e3o desses problemas. Ser\u00e3o publicados na revistasEure k a! artigos relevantes na prepara\u00e7\u00e3o dos estudantes para a Olimp\u00edada Brasileira de Matem\u00e1tica em seus diversos n\u00edveis e para v\u00e1rias olimp\u00edadas de car\u00e1ter internacional das quais o Brasil participa.

Como para a grande maioria dos t\u00f3picos e t\u00e9cnicas explorados nas olimp\u00edadas n\u00e3o existem publica\u00e7\u00f5es exposit\u00f3rias adequadas em l\u00edngua portuguesa, nosso objetivo inicial \u00e9 abord\u00e1-los todos em artigos auto-suficientes. Assim, daremos prefer\u00eancia \u00e0queles que tratem de assuntos ainda n\u00e3o explorados nos n\u00fameros anteriores daEur eka!. Como a defici\u00eancia em artigos adequados para estudantes do Ensino Fundamental (N\u00edveis 1 e 2 da OBM) \u00e9 ainda mais grave, estes ter\u00e3o primazia na sua publica\u00e7\u00e3o. Vale a pena observar que, quando um tema \u00e9 importante para os estudantes de diversos n\u00edveis, ele deve aparecer em artigos adequados para cada um desses n\u00edveis, separadamente.

A XV Olimp\u00edada Iberoamericana de Matem\u00e1tica foi realizada em Caracas, Venezuela no per\u00edodo de 16 a 24 de setembro de 2000. A equipe brasileira foi liderada pelos professores Ralph Costa Teixeira (Rio de Janeiro - RJ) e Eduardo Tengan (S\u00e3o Paulo - SP).
