In the atermath o the 76th Gener-al Convention o the Episcopal Church,I thought that it would be good tohighlight some o the important actionsor our common lie that escaped the at-tention o the media. And many actionsdid. Here is a sampling.
A realistic budget for mission
. TheConvention passed a three-year budget which takes into account the hard fnan-cial realities we are all acing. Expectedrevenues are set at sixteen percent lowerthan the previous three-year period.Stafng at the Church Center andbudgets or meetings were deeply cut.Developing networks or mission andministry, not maintaining sta, was madea spending priority.
Denominational health plan.
At theurging o the Church Medical Trust, the Episcopal Church’s health insur-ance company, the Convention approveda unifed and comprehensive plan orinsuring the Church’s lay and ordainedemployees. With almost everyone nowto be covered by the Medical Trust, there should be substantial savings orthe Church as a whole.
Rchel’ Ter, Hh’ Hpe
.
This volume o pastoral and liturgicalresources will fnd a welcome acrossthe breadth o the Episcopal Church, with materials or miscarriage, stillbirth, healing ater an abortion, inertility, andrelated matters, all o which oten gounaddressed.
Clergy discipline.
The Conventionapproved a complete reworking o thecanons (church law) and procedures orresponding to complaints against clergy, streamlining the process and building ingreater accountability.
Full communion with the Moravians
. The Bishops and Deputies approveda plan or ull communion with the Moravian Church, a tiny but gitedChurch with a long history predatingthe Reormation.
Sermons and music.
Not legislativeactions at all but important aspects o the daily routine o Eucharistic worship. My two avorite preachers were Rowan Williams and Ray Suarez (he o PBS’News Hour and an Episcopalian), andmy avorite music was anything rom Arica. Preerably with drums! The Rt. Rev. Wayne Smith

Jesus called his disciples with the words “Follow me.”  Later, he told his disciples how they could continueto follow him with the command,“Do this in remembrance of me.” We follow Jesus, we learn how to live as his disciples,in the celebration of the Eucharist.
The Eucharistic Disciple Program, “Follow Me and Do This,” rom the diocese’s Epis-copal School or Ministry explores each o the basic actions o the Eucharist, and howthese actions can become the ways we liveaithully. Some o these actions are: gathering with other Christians, listening to Scripture, conessing a common aith, and sharing thepeace o Christ.Nine two-hour sessions
