Take a Stand Against Police Tasers

The Berkeley Police are trying to persuade the Berkeley City Council to allow them to
acquire and use tasers, which are linked to more than 500 deaths since 2001*. Tasers are not
necessarily non-lethal weapons, can cause permanent injuries, and are being falsely presented
by taser manufacturers as a safe alternative to guns.
Tasers have proven to be disproportionately used against the unarmed, the mentally ill and
people of color. Berkeley should join San Francisco in rejecting the inclusion of tasers by police.
We the undersigned oppose the use of tasers by the
Berkeley Police Department.
