I feel one of the saddest parts of war is the effects it
has on the children. They are the innocent ones that suffer for what the adults have caused.
As I was searching for information for my speech, I
came across a very inspiring foundation that focuses on children affected by war. I wanted to tell you about this organization. It is called war child.
War Child was founded in 1993 in response to the
conflict in the former Yugoslavia. It has since expanded its work to conflicts worldwide.
War Child strives to help with the suffering of children
affected by war and focus on the future of these children.
War child focuses on security, health, education and
the importance of love. The organization is in; • Australia - www.warchild.org.au • Canada - www.warchild.ca • Netherlands - www.warchild.nl • United Kingdom - www.warchild.org.uk • United States - www.warchildusa.org Here are some Facts about War Children
These facts were supplied by War Child United
Kingdom.
• One and a half million children have been killed
in armed conflicts throughout the world over the last ten years. • Four million children have been disabled in these conflicts. • Six thousand children are killed or seriously damaged by land mines every year. • 140 million children in developing countries have never attended school. • In southern Iraq, where War Child is working on a community program, 76% of all households depend on food rations from them. • In Afghanistan, War Child continues to negotiate the release of children from adult detention centres and supports kindergartens for children born in prisons.
War child is run fully by volunteers and raises it’s
money by way of donations and also sales of children’s books and cd’s.
As I say this speech they have volunteers working
around the world helping children of war.
In a perfect world we would have no war and
therefore children would not suffer, but unfortunately this is not the case. One hope lies in organizations such as this one and others like it and as Christians we can pray that they help in rebuilding their lives in some way.
