 Answerthese20questionsaboutinternalauditreportsissuedduringthelast12monthsastruthfullyandobjectivelyasyoucan.
1. Have more than 95% o audit recommendations during the last year been ully and successully implemented?2. Did your reports correlate with your organisation’s strategic and business objectives? Do your audit recommendations specically assist intheir achievement?3. Were all o your reports less than six pages?4. I you were the recipient would they have spurred you into immediate action?5. Did all the reports take less than two weeks to nalise?6. Were all o your ndings or recommendations dierent rom the last time an audit o the same area was carried out?7. Was the cost o completing the audit shown on the ace o the report?8. Did the reports include photographs and graphics?9. Were they issued electronically?10. Were there any surprises?11. Did the reports ocus on the uture rather than the past?12. Did the management comments indicate real commitment rather than simply a way or theclient to close the audit process and get on to something else?13. Was the audit opinion a true refection o the overall conclusions? Did the key recipientaccept this audit opinion as valid?14. Did the ndings, conclusions and recommendations really represent the key issues?15. Did you only report on the major issues ound during the audit with the minor issues beingdealt with separately?16. Were all the recommendations 100% practicable?17. Were all the audits conducted ully recognised by the organisation as helpul and relatingto key business risks or opportunities?18. Were the reports a true refection o the expertise, knowledge and proessionalism thatwent into the audits?19. Have you changed the report ormat signicantly within the past two years?20. Do you believe that your reports are as good as they could be?I you cannot answer ‘Yes’ to more than 15 o the questions it is unlikely that your audit reportswill meet the needs o your organisation. I you scored 10 or less you are probably being moreobjective than those who scored themselves 15 or more (And you will represent very much thenormal organisation as ar as audit reports go!)
