2007 High Adventure

at Camp Herzogville
In the summer of 2007, deep in the midst of the piney forest of Bastrop, Texas, Camp
Herzogville offers a 3-day high adventure for Varsity and Venturing scouts. Your
participation at Camp Herzogville will allow you to grow in the five emphasis of Varsity
scouting: (i) advancement, (ii) high adventures and sports, (iii) personal development,
(iv) service and (v) special events. Through the use of pioneering skills, aquatic skills,
and leadership skills, you will compete against your fellow Varsity scouts, while passing
off necessary Duty to God requirements and advancing towards Eagle.

The first weekend of the high adventure will be Thursday, June 7 through June 9. This
will be followed by another 3-day event July 26 through July 28. While attendance at
both is not required, each adventure gives you increased opportunities to learn those skills
essential in becoming strong leaders.

Attached is a personal equipment list. Do not forget anything. You will need this
equipment. You will find at the camp all the other equipment required, including your
tents, cooking gear and, most important, food. Once you arrive, you will be divided into
three squads of 2-3 scouts each. You will operate as a squad, and compete against the
other two in a “Survivor” type format. Once you arrive, nothing is optional. You are there
to compete to win…and excel. Each day starts early, so this will NOT be a time to sit
back and relax.

Parents: We will advise of the cost once all food has been purchased. Most of the supplies
are being donated by local members.
